1 Chronicles chapter 16
English Standard Version
1And they brought in the ark of God and set it inside the tent that David had pitched for it, and they offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before God. 2And when David had finished offering the burnt offerings and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the Lord 3and distributed to all Israel, both men and women, to each a loaf of bread, a portion of meat, and a cake of raisins.
4Then he appointed some of the Levites as ministers before the ark of the Lord, to invoke, to thank, and to praise the Lord, the God of Israel. 5Asaph was the chief, and second to him were Zechariah, Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-edom, and Jeiel, who were to play harps and lyres; Asaph was to sound the cymbals, 6and Benaiah and Jahaziel the priests were to blow trumpets regularly before the ark of the covenant of God. 7Then on that day David first appointed that thanksgiving be sung to the Lord by Asaph and his brothers.
8 Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples! 9Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wondrous works! 10Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice! 11 Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually! 12 Remember the wondrous works that he has done, his miracles and the judgments he uttered, 13O offspring of Israel his servant, children of Jacob, his chosen ones! 14He is the Lord our God; his judgments are in all the earth. 15Remember his covenant forever, the word that he commanded, for a thousand generations, 16the covenant that he made with Abraham, his sworn promise to Isaac, 17which he confirmed to Jacob as a statute, to Israel as an everlasting covenant, 18saying, "To you I will give the land of Canaan, as your portion for an inheritance." 19When you were few in number, of little account, and sojourners in it, 20wandering from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another people, 21he allowed no one to oppress them; he rebuked kings on their account, 22saying, "Touch not my anointed ones, do my prophets no harm!" 23 Sing to the Lord, all the earth! Tell of his salvation from day to day. 24Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples! 25For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, and he is to be feared above all gods. 26For all the gods of the peoples are worthless idols, but the Lord made the heavens. 27Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and joy are in his place. 28Ascribe to the Lord, O families of the peoples, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength! 29Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; bring an offering and come before him! Worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness; 30tremble before him, all the earth; yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved. 31 Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice, and let them say among the nations, "The Lord reigns!" 32 Let the sea roar, and all that fills it; let the field exult, and everything in it! 33Then shall the trees of the forest sing for joy before the Lord, for he comes to judge the earth. 34Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever! 35Say also: "Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather and deliver us from among the nations, that we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in your praise.
37So David left Asaph and his brothers there before the ark of the covenant of the Lord to minister regularly before the ark as each day required, 38and also Obed-edom and his sixty-eight brothers, while Obed-edom, the son of Jeduthun, and Hosah were to be gatekeepers. 39And he left Zadok the priest and his brothers the priests before the tabernacle of the Lord in the high place that was at Gibeon 40to offer burnt offerings to the Lord on the altar of burnt offering regularly morning and evening, to do all that is written in the Law of the Lord that he commanded Israel. 41With them were Heman and Jeduthun and the rest of those chosen and expressly named to give thanks to the Lord, for his steadfast love endures forever. 42Heman and Jeduthun had trumpets and cymbals for the music and instruments for sacred song. The sons of Jeduthun were appointed to the gate.

New Living Translation
1They brought the Ark of God and placed it inside the special tent David had prepared for it. And they presented burnt offerings and peace offerings to God. 2When he had finished his sacrifices, David blessed the people in the name of the Lord. 3Then he gave to every man and woman in all Israel a loaf of bread, a cake of dates, and a cake of raisins.
4David appointed the following Levites to lead the people in worship before the Ark of the Lord — to invoke his blessings, to give thanks, and to praise the Lord, the God of Israel. 5Asaph, the leader of this group, sounded the cymbals. Second to him was Zechariah, followed by Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-edom, and Jeiel. They played the harps and lyres. 6The priests, Benaiah and Jahaziel, played the trumpets regularly before the Ark of God’s Covenant.
8Give thanks to the Lord and proclaim his greatness. Let the whole world know what he has done. 9Sing to him; yes, sing his praises. Tell everyone about his wonderful deeds. 10Exult in his holy name; rejoice, you who worship the Lord. 11Search for the Lord and for his strength; continually seek him. 12Remember the wonders he has performed, his miracles, and the rulings he has given, 13you children of his servant Israel, you descendants of Jacob, his chosen ones.
14He is the Lord our God. His justice is seen throughout the land. 15Remember his covenant forever — the commitment he made to a thousand generations. 16This is the covenant he made with Abraham and the oath he swore to Isaac. 17He confirmed it to Jacob as a decree, and to the people of Israel as a never-ending covenant: 18'I will give you the land of Canaan as your special possession.'
19He said this when you were few in number, a tiny group of strangers in Canaan. 20They wandered from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another. 21Yet he did not let anyone oppress them. He warned kings on their behalf: 22'Do not touch my chosen people, and do not hurt my prophets.'
23Let the whole earth sing to the Lord! Each day proclaim the good news that he saves. 24Publish his glorious deeds among the nations. Tell everyone about the amazing things he does. 25Great is the Lord! He is most worthy of praise! He is to be feared above all gods. 26The gods of other nations are mere idols, but the Lord made the heavens! 27Honor and majesty surround him; strength and joy fill his dwelling.
28O nations of the world, recognize the Lord, recognize that the Lord is glorious and strong. 29Give to the Lord the glory he deserves! Bring your offering and come into his presence. Worship the Lord in all his holy splendor. 30Let all the earth tremble before him. The world stands firm and cannot be shaken.
31Let the heavens be glad, and the earth rejoice! Tell all the nations, 'The Lord reigns!' 32Let the sea and everything in it shout his praise! Let the fields and their crops burst out with joy! 33Let the trees of the forest sing for joy before the Lord, for he is coming to judge the earth.
34Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever. 35Cry out, 'Save us, O God of our salvation! Gather and rescue us from among the nations, so we can thank your holy name and rejoice and praise you.'
37David arranged for Asaph and his fellow Levites to serve regularly before the Ark of the Lord’s Covenant, doing whatever needed to be done each day. 38This group included Obed-edom (son of Jeduthun), Hosah, and sixty-eight other Levites as gatekeepers.
39Meanwhile, David stationed Zadok the priest and his fellow priests at the Tabernacle of the Lord at the place of worship in Gibeon, where they continued to minister before the Lord. 40They sacrificed the regular burnt offerings to the Lord each morning and evening on the altar set aside for that purpose, obeying everything written in the Law of the Lord, as he had commanded Israel. 41David also appointed Heman, Jeduthun, and the others chosen by name to give thanks to the Lord, for 'his faithful love endures forever.' 42They used their trumpets, cymbals, and other instruments to accompany their songs of praise to God. And the sons of Jeduthun were appointed as gatekeepers.
King James Version
1So they brought the ark of God, and set it in the midst of the tent that David had pitched for it: and they offered burnt sacrifices and peace offerings before God. 2And when David had made an end of offering the burnt offerings and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the Lord. 3And he dealt to every one of Israel, both man and woman, to every one a loaf of bread, and a good piece of flesh, and a flagon of wine. 4And he appointed certain of the Levites to minister before the ark of the Lord, and to record, and to thank and praise the Lord God of Israel: 5Asaph the chief, and next to him Zechariah, Jeiel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Mattithiah, and Eliab, and Benaiah, and Obededom: and Jeiel with psalteries and with harps; but Asaph made a sound with cymbals; 6Benaiah also and Jahaziel the priests with trumpets continually before the ark of the covenant of God. 7Then on that day David delivered first this psalm to thank the Lord into the hand of Asaph and his brethren. 8Give thanks unto the Lord, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people. 9Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him, talk ye of all his wondrous works. 10Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord. 11Seek the Lord and his strength, seek his face continually. 12Remember his marvellous works that he hath done, his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth; 13O ye seed of Israel his servant, ye children of Jacob, his chosen ones. 14He is the Lord our God; his judgments are in all the earth. 15Be ye mindful always of his covenant; the word which he commanded to a thousand generations; 16Even of the covenant which he made with Abraham, and of his oath unto Isaac; 17And hath confirmed the same to Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant, 18Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance; 19When ye were but few, even a few, and strangers in it. 20And when they went from nation to nation, and from one kingdom to another people; 21He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes, 22Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm. 23Sing unto the Lord, all the earth; shew forth from day to day his salvation. 24Declare his glory among the heathen; his marvellous works among all nations. 25For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised: he also is to be feared above all gods. 26For all the gods of the people are idols: but the Lord made the heavens. 27Glory and honour are in his presence; strength and gladness are in his place. 28Give unto the Lord, ye kindreds of the people, give unto the Lord glory and strength. 29Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness. 30Fear before him, all the earth: the world also shall be stable, that it be not moved. 31Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice: and let men say among the nations, The Lord reigneth. 32Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof: let the fields rejoice, and all that is therein. 33Then shall the trees of the wood sing out at the presence of the Lord, because he cometh to judge the earth. 34O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever. 35And say ye, Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather us together, and deliver us from the heathen, that we may give thanks to thy holy name, and glory in thy praise. 36Blessed be the Lord God of Israel for ever and ever. And all the people said, Amen, and praised the Lord. 37So he left there before the ark of the covenant of the Lord Asaph and his brethren, to minister before the ark continually, as every day's work required: 38And Obededom with their brethren, threescore and eight; Obededom also the son of Jeduthun and Hosah to be porters: 39And Zadok the priest, and his brethren the priests, before the tabernacle of the Lord in the high place that was at Gibeon, 40To offer burnt offerings unto the Lord upon the altar of the burnt offering continually morning and evening, and to do according to all that is written in the law of the Lord, which he commanded Israel; 41And with them Heman and Jeduthun, and the rest that were chosen, who were expressed by name, to give thanks to the Lord, because his mercy endureth for ever; 42And with them Heman and Jeduthun with trumpets and cymbals for those that should make a sound, and with musical instruments of God. And the sons of Jeduthun were porters.
New King James Version
1So they brought the ark of God, and set it in the midst of the tabernacle that David had erected for it. Then they offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before God. 2And when David had finished offering the burnt offerings and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the Lord. 3Then he distributed to everyone of Israel, both man and woman, to everyone a loaf of bread, a piece of meat, and a cake of raisins.
4And he appointed some of the Levites to minister before the ark of the Lord, to commemorate, to thank, and to praise the Lord God of Israel: 5Asaph the chief, and next to him Zechariah, then Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, and Obed-Edom: Jeiel with stringed instruments and harps, but Asaph made music with cymbals; 6Benaiah and Jahaziel the priests regularly blew the trumpets before the ark of the covenant of God.
8 Oh, give thanks to the Lord! Call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples! 9Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him; Talk of all His wondrous works! 10Glory in His holy name; Let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the Lord! 11Seek the Lord and His strength; Seek His face evermore! 12Remember His marvelous works which He has done, His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth, 13O seed of Israel His servant, You children of Jacob, His chosen ones! 14He is the Lord our God; His judgments are in all the earth. 15Remember His covenant forever, The word which He commanded, for a thousand generations, 16 The covenant which He made with Abraham, And His oath to Isaac, 17And confirmed it to Jacob for a statute, To Israel for an everlasting covenant, 18Saying, “To you I will give the land of Canaan As the allotment of your inheritance,” 19When you were few in number, Indeed very few, and strangers in it. 20When they went from one nation to another, And from one kingdom to another people, 21He permitted no man to do them wrong; Yes, He rebuked kings for their sakes, 22 Saying, “Do not touch My anointed ones, And do My prophets no harm.” 23 Sing to the Lord, all the earth; Proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day. 24Declare His glory among the nations, His wonders among all peoples. 25For the Lord is great and greatly to be praised; He is also to be feared above all gods. 26For all the gods of the peoples are idols, But the Lord made the heavens. 27Honor and majesty are before Him; Strength and gladness are in His place. 28Give to the Lord, O families of the peoples, Give to the Lord glory and strength. 29Give to the Lord the glory due His name; Bring an offering, and come before Him. Oh, worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness! 30Tremble before Him, all the earth. The world also is firmly established, It shall not be moved. 31Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; And let them say among the nations, “The Lord reigns.” 32Let the sea roar, and all its fullness; Let the field rejoice, and all that is in it. 33Then the trees of the woods shall rejoice before the Lord, For He is coming to judge the earth. 34 Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. 35 And say, “Save us, O God of our salvation; Gather us together, and deliver us from the Gentiles, To give thanks to Your holy name, To triumph in Your praise.”
37So he left Asaph and his brothers there before the ark of the covenant of the Lord to minister before the ark regularly, as every day’s work required; 38and Obed-Edom with his sixty-eight brethren, including Obed-Edom the son of Jeduthun, and Hosah, to be gatekeepers; 39and Zadok the priest and his brethren the priests, before the tabernacle of the Lord at the high place that was at Gibeon, 40to offer burnt offerings to the Lord on the altar of burnt offering regularly morning and evening, and to do according to all that is written in the Law of the Lord which He commanded Israel; 41and with them Heman and Jeduthun and the rest who were chosen, who were designated by name, to give thanks to the Lord, because His mercy endures forever; 42and with them Heman and Jeduthun, to sound aloud with trumpets and cymbals and the musical instruments of God. Now the sons of Jeduthun were gatekeepers.
