What does Exodus 6:23 mean?
Aaron and his descendants are finally introduced in this genealogy (Exodus 6:14). He was Moses' older brother (Exo-dus 7:7). Aaron married Elisheba the daughter of Amminadab. This connected Aaron both with his native tribes of Levi and the tribe of Judah. Amminadab is mentioned in both family lists of Jesus (Matthew 1:4; Luke 3:33). Amminadab's brother Nahshon is also noted. Nahshon was part of the family line of the future king David (1 Chronicles 2:11) and also in the family line of Jesus (Matthew 1:4; Luke 3:32).Aaron's sons were Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar. Nadab and Abihu died as unfaithful priests (Leviticus 10:1–4). Eleazar and Ithamar would then serve as leading priests over the nation of Israel during Aaron's life (Numbers 3:4). Eleazar served in Aaron's place after his death (Numbers 20:25–26). Eleazar also served alongside Joshua in the Promised Land, died, and was buried in Gibeah, part of his inheritance in the hill country of Ephraim (Joshua 24:33).
