What does Genesis 25:5 mean?
Even while listing various people groups and nations that would come from Abraham's marriage to Keturah, this verse is quick to remind us that the legitimate line of Abraham travels through Isaac and none of these other sons. Isaac was the child of the promise, and God established his covenant promises with Isaac. Other scriptures described Keturah as a concubine (1 Chronicles 1:32), and the Bible is not clear as to whether she and Abraham were married before the death of Sarah (Genesis 23:1–2).In addition, Abraham left the vast bulk of his great wealth to Isaac, though he did give gifts to his other sons.
