Isaiah 24:2

ESV And it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest; as with the slave, so with his master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the lender, so with the borrower; as with the creditor, so with the debtor.
NIV it will be the same for priest as for people, for the master as for his servant, for the mistress as for her servant, for seller as for buyer, for borrower as for lender, for debtor as for creditor.
NASB And the people will be like the priest, the servant like his master, the female servant like her mistress, the buyer like the seller, the lender like the borrower, the creditor like the debtor.
CSB people and priest alike, servant and master, female servant and mistress, buyer and seller, lender and borrower, creditor and debtor.
NLT Priests and laypeople, servants and masters, maids and mistresses, buyers and sellers, lenders and borrowers, bankers and debtors — none will be spared.
KJV And it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with his master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the lender, so with the borrower; as with the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him.
NKJV And it shall be: As with the people, so with the priest; As with the servant, so with his master; As with the maid, so with her mistress; As with the buyer, so with the seller; As with the lender, so with the borrower; As with the creditor, so with the debtor.

What does Isaiah 24:2 mean?

This section describes the Lord's judgment on the entire earth, likely during the end times (Isaiah 24:1). No amount of money, position, or privilege will spare anyone from the wrath that is to come. The suffering will be universally distributed: among those in power all the way to those in the lowest parts of society. Those who planned their lives carefully and those who lived recklessly will all experience the judgment of the Lord. All human class systems will be made meaningless. Every person will be caught up in the events the Lord initiates in those days.
