1 Chronicles 23:21-30
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 23
21The sons of Merari were Mahli and Mushi. The sons of Mahli were Eleazar and Kish. 22Eleazar died and had no sons, but only daughters; so their relatives, the sons of Kish, took them as wives. 23The sons of Mushi were three: Mahli, Eder, and Jeremoth.
24These were the sons of Levi according to their fathers’ households, the heads of the fathers’ households of those among them who were counted, in the number of names by their head count, doing the work for the service of the house of the Lord, from twenty years old and upward.
25For David said, 'The Lord God of Israel has given rest to His people, and He dwells in Jerusalem forever.
26Also, the Levites will no longer need to carry the tabernacle and all its utensils for its service.'
27For by the last words of David, the sons of Levi were counted from twenty years old and upward.
28For their office is to assist the sons of Aaron with the service of the house of the Lord, in the courtyards and in the chambers, and in the purification of all holy things, and the work of the service of the house of God,
29and with the showbread, and the fine flour for a grain offering, and unleavened wafers, or what is baked in the pan or what is well-mixed, and all measures of volume and size.
30They are to stand every morning to thank and to praise the Lord, and likewise at evening,
King James Version
24These were the sons of Levi after the house of their fathers; even the chief of the fathers, as they were counted by number of names by their polls, that did the work for the service of the house of the Lord, from the age of twenty years and upward.
25For David said, The Lord God of Israel hath given rest unto his people, that they may dwell in Jerusalem for ever:
26And also unto the Levites; they shall no more carry the tabernacle, nor any vessels of it for the service thereof.
27For by the last words of David the Levites were numbered from twenty years old and above:
28Because their office was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of the Lord, in the courts, and in the chambers, and in the purifying of all holy things, and the work of the service of the house of God;
29Both for the shewbread, and for the fine flour for meat offering, and for the unleavened cakes, and for that which is baked in the pan, and for that which is fried, and for all manner of measure and size;
30And to stand every morning to thank and praise the Lord, and likewise at even;

23Mushi’s sons: Mahli, Eder, and Jeremoth—three.
24These were the descendants of Levi by their ancestral families —the family heads, according to their registration by name in the headcount—twenty years old or more, who worked in the service of the Lord’s temple.
25For David said, "The Lord God of Israel has given rest to his people, and he has come to stay in Jerusalem forever.
26Also, the Levites no longer need to carry the tabernacle or any of the equipment for its service" —
27for according to the last words of David, the Levites twenty years old or more were to be counted—
28"but their duty will be to assist the descendants of Aaron with the service of the Lord’s temple, being responsible for the courts and the chambers, the purification of all the holy things, and the work of the service of God’s temple—
29as well as the rows of the Bread of the Presence, the fine flour for the grain offering, the wafers of unleavened bread, the baking, the mixing, and all measurements of volume and length.
30They are also to stand every morning to give thanks and praise to the Lord, and likewise in the evening.
New Living Translation
Chapter 23
21The descendants of Merari included Mahli and Mushi. The sons of Mahli were Eleazar and Kish. 22Eleazar died with no sons, only daughters. His daughters married their cousins, the sons of Kish.
24These were the descendants of Levi by clans, the leaders of their family groups, registered carefully by name. Each had to be twenty years old or older to qualify for service in the house of the Lord.
25For David said, 'The Lord, the God of Israel, has given us peace, and he will always live in Jerusalem.
26Now the Levites will no longer need to carry the Tabernacle and its furnishings from place to place.'
27In accordance with David’s final instructions, all the Levites twenty years old or older were registered for service.
28The work of the Levites was to assist the priests, the descendants of Aaron, as they served at the house of the Lord. They also took care of the courtyards and side rooms, helped perform the ceremonies of purification, and served in many other ways in the house of God.
29They were in charge of the sacred bread that was set out on the table, the choice flour for the grain offerings, the wafers made without yeast, the cakes cooked in olive oil, and the other mixed breads. They were also responsible to check all the weights and measures.
30And each morning and evening they stood before the Lord to sing songs of thanks and praise to him.

New International Version
24These were the descendants of Levi by their families—the heads of families as they were registered under their names and counted individually, that is, the workers twenty years old or more who served in the temple of the Lord.
25For David had said, "Since the Lord, the God of Israel, has granted rest to his people and has come to dwell in Jerusalem forever,
26the Levites no longer need to carry the tabernacle or any of the articles used in its service."
27According to the last instructions of David, the Levites were counted from those twenty years old or more.
28The duty of the Levites was to help Aaron’s descendants in the service of the temple of the Lord: to be in charge of the courtyards, the side rooms, the purification of all sacred things and the performance of other duties at the house of God.
29They were in charge of the bread set out on the table, the special flour for the grain offerings, the thin loaves made without yeast, the baking and the mixing, and all measurements of quantity and size.
30They were also to stand every morning to thank and praise the Lord. They were to do the same in the evening
