1 Chronicles 9:13-30
New American Standard Bible
14Of the Levites, there were Shemaiah the son of Hasshub, the son of Azrikam, the son of Hashabiah, of the sons of Merari;
15and Bakbakkar, Heresh, and Galal; and Mattaniah the son of Mica, the son of Zichri, the son of Asaph,
16and Obadiah the son of Shemaiah, the son of Galal, the son of Jeduthun; and Berechiah the son of Asa, the son of Elkanah, who lived in the settlements of the Netophathites.
17Now the gatekeepers were Shallum, Akkub, Talmon, Ahiman, and their relatives (Shallum the chief
18being stationed until now at the king’s gate to the east). These were the gatekeepers for the camp of the sons of Levi.
19Shallum the son of Kore, the son of Ebiasaph, the son of Korah, and his relatives of his father’s house, the Korahites, were in charge of the work of the service, doorkeepers of the tent; and their fathers had been in charge of the camp of the Lord, keepers of the entrance.
20Phinehas the son of Eleazar was supervisor over them previously, and the Lord was with him.
21Zechariah the son of Meshelemiah was gatekeeper of the entrance of the tent of meeting.
22Those who were chosen to be gatekeepers at the thresholds were 212 in all. They were registered by genealogy in their settlements, those whom David and Samuel the seer appointed in their official capacity.
23So they and their sons were in charge of the gates of the house of the Lord, the house of the tent, in their divisions of service.
24The gatekeepers were on the four sides, to the east, west, north, and south.
25Their relatives in their settlements were to come in every seven days from time to time to be with them;
26for the four chief gatekeepers, who were Levites, served in an official capacity, and were in charge of the chambers and in charge of the treasuries in the house of God.
27They spent the night around the house of God, because the watch was committed to them; and they were in charge of opening it morning by morning.
28Now some of them were in charge of the utensils of the service, for they counted them when they brought them in and when they took them out.
29Some of them also were appointed over the furniture and over all the utensils of the sanctuary, and over the finely milled flour, the wine, the olive oil, the frankincense, and the balsam oil.
30Some of the sons of the priests prepared the mixing of the balsam oil.
King James Version
14And of the Levites; Shemaiah the son of Hasshub, the son of Azrikam, the son of Hashabiah, of the sons of Merari;
15And Bakbakkar, Heresh, and Galal, and Mattaniah the son of Micah, the son of Zichri, the son of Asaph;
16And Obadiah the son of Shemaiah, the son of Galal, the son of Jeduthun, and Berechiah the son of Asa, the son of Elkanah, that dwelt in the villages of the Netophathites.
17And the porters were, Shallum, and Akkub, and Talmon, and Ahiman, and their brethren: Shallum was the chief;
18Who hitherto waited in the king's gate eastward: they were porters in the companies of the children of Levi.
19And Shallum the son of Kore, the son of Ebiasaph, the son of Korah, and his brethren, of the house of his father, the Korahites, were over the work of the service, keepers of the gates of the tabernacle: and their fathers, being over the host of the Lord, were keepers of the entry.
20And Phinehas the son of Eleazar was the ruler over them in time past, and the Lord was with him.
21And Zechariah the son of Meshelemiah was porter of the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
22All these which were chosen to be porters in the gates were two hundred and twelve. These were reckoned by their genealogy in their villages, whom David and Samuel the seer did ordain in their set office.
23So they and their children had the oversight of the gates of the house of the Lord, namely, the house of the tabernacle, by wards.
24In four quarters were the porters, toward the east, west, north, and south.
25And their brethren, which were in their villages, were to come after seven days from time to time with them.
26For these Levites, the four chief porters, were in their set office, and were over the chambers and treasuries of the house of God.
27And they lodged round about the house of God, because the charge was upon them, and the opening thereof every morning pertained to them.
28And certain of them had the charge of the ministering vessels, that they should bring them in and out by tale.
29Some of them also were appointed to oversee the vessels, and all the instruments of the sanctuary, and the fine flour, and the wine, and the oil, and the frankincense, and the spices.
30And some of the sons of the priests made the ointment of the spices.

18he was previously stationed at the King’s Gate on the east side. These were the gatekeepers from the camp of the Levites.
19Shallum son of Kore, son of Ebiasaph, son of Korah and his relatives from his father’s family, the Korahites, were assigned to guard the thresholds of the tent. Their ancestors had been assigned to the Lord’s camp as guardians of the entrance.
20In earlier times Phinehas son of Eleazar had been their leader, and the Lord was with him.
21Zechariah son of Meshelemiah was the gatekeeper at the entrance to the tent of meeting.
22The total number of those chosen to be gatekeepers at the thresholds was 212. They were registered by genealogy in their settlements. David and the seer Samuel had appointed them to their trusted positions.
23So they and their sons were assigned as guards to the gates of the Lord’s temple, which had been the tent-temple.
24The gatekeepers were on the four sides: east, west, north, and south.
25Their relatives came from their settlements at fixed times to be with them seven days,
26but the four chief gatekeepers, who were Levites, were entrusted with the rooms and the treasuries of God’s temple.
27They spent the night in the vicinity of God’s temple, because they had guard duty and were in charge of opening it every morning.
28Some of them were in charge of the utensils used in worship. They would count them when they brought them in and when they took them out.
29Others were put in charge of the furnishings and all the utensils of the sanctuary, as well as the fine flour, wine, oil, incense, and spices.
30Some of the priests’ sons mixed the spices.
New Living Translation
14The Levites who returned were Shemaiah son of Hasshub, son of Azrikam, son of Hashabiah, a descendant of Merari;
15Bakbakkar; Heresh; Galal; Mattaniah son of Mica, son of Zicri, son of Asaph;
16Obadiah son of Shemaiah, son of Galal, son of Jeduthun; and Berekiah son of Asa, son of Elkanah, who lived in the area of Netophah.
17The gatekeepers who returned were Shallum, Akkub, Talmon, Ahiman, and their relatives. Shallum was the chief gatekeeper.
18Prior to this time, they were responsible for the King’s Gate on the east side. These men served as gatekeepers for the camps of the Levites.
19Shallum was the son of Kore, a descendant of Abiasaph, from the clan of Korah. He and his relatives, the Korahites, were responsible for guarding the entrance to the sanctuary, just as their ancestors had guarded the Tabernacle in the camp of the Lord.
20Phinehas son of Eleazar had been in charge of the gatekeepers in earlier times, and the Lord had been with him.
21And later Zechariah son of Meshelemiah was responsible for guarding the entrance to the Tabernacle.
22In all, there were 212 gatekeepers in those days, and they were listed according to the genealogies in their villages. David and Samuel the seer had appointed their ancestors because they were reliable men.
23These gatekeepers and their descendants, by their divisions, were responsible for guarding the entrance to the house of the Lord when that house was a tent.
24The gatekeepers were stationed on all four sides — east, west, north, and south.
25Their relatives in the villages came regularly to share their duties for seven-day periods.
26The four chief gatekeepers, all Levites, were trusted officials, for they were responsible for the rooms and treasuries at the house of God.
27They would spend the night around the house of God, since it was their duty to guard it and to open the gates every morning.
28Some of the gatekeepers were assigned to care for the various articles used in worship. They checked them in and out to avoid any loss.
29Others were responsible for the furnishings, the items in the sanctuary, and the supplies, such as choice flour, wine, olive oil, frankincense, and spices.
30But it was the priests who blended the spices.

18until then they were in the king 's gate on the east side as the gatekeepers of the camps of the Levites.
19Shallum the son of Kore, son of Ebiasaph, son of Korah, and his kinsmen of his fathers ' house, the Korahites, were in charge of the work of the service, keepers of the thresholds of the tent, as their fathers had been in charge of the camp of the Lord, keepers of the entrance.

21Zechariah the son of Meshelemiah was gatekeeper at the entrance of the tent of meeting.
22All these, who were chosen as gatekeepers at the thresholds, were 212. They were enrolled by genealogies in their villages. David and Samuel the seer established them in their office of trust.
23So they and their sons were in charge of the gates of the house of the Lord, that is, the house of the tent, as guards.
24The gatekeepers were on the four sides, east, west, north, and south.
25And their kinsmen who were in their villages were obligated to come in every seven days, in turn, to be with these,
26for the four chief gatekeepers, who were Levites, were entrusted to be over the chambers and the treasures of the house of God.
27And they lodged around the house of God, for on them lay the duty of watching, and they had charge of opening it every morning.
28Some of them had charge of the utensils of service, for they were required to count them when they were brought in and taken out.
29Others of them were appointed over the furniture and over all the holy utensils, also over the fine flour, the wine, the oil, the incense, and the spices.
30Others, of the sons of the priests, prepared the mixing of the spices,

24The gatekeepers were on the four sides: east, west, north and south.
25Their fellow Levites in their villages had to come from time to time and share their duties for seven-day periods.
26But the four principal gatekeepers, who were Levites, were entrusted with the responsibility for the rooms and treasuries in the house of God.
27They would spend the night stationed around the house of God, because they had to guard it; and they had charge of the key for opening it each morning.
28Some of them were in charge of the articles used in the temple service; they counted them when they were brought in and when they were taken out.
29Others were assigned to take care of the furnishings and all the other articles of the sanctuary, as well as the special flour and wine, and the olive oil, incense and spices.
30But some of the priests took care of mixing the spices.
