1 Chronicles 9:20-31
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 9
20Phinehas the son of Eleazar was supervisor over them previously, and the Lord was with him. 21Zechariah the son of Meshelemiah was gatekeeper of the entrance of the tent of meeting. 22Those who were chosen to be gatekeepers at the thresholds were 212 in all. They were registered by genealogy in their settlements, those whom David and Samuel the seer appointed in their official capacity. 23So they and their sons were in charge of the gates of the house of the Lord, the house of the tent, in their divisions of service. 24The gatekeepers were on the four sides, to the east, west, north, and south. 25Their relatives in their settlements were to come in every seven days from time to time to be with them; 26for the four chief gatekeepers, who were Levites, served in an official capacity, and were in charge of the chambers and in charge of the treasuries in the house of God. 27They spent the night around the house of God, because the watch was committed to them; and they were in charge of opening it morning by morning.
28Now some of them were in charge of the utensils of the service, for they counted them when they brought them in and when they took them out.
29Some of them also were appointed over the furniture and over all the utensils of the sanctuary, and over the finely milled flour, the wine, the olive oil, the frankincense, and the balsam oil.
30Some of the sons of the priests prepared the mixing of the balsam oil.
31Mattithiah, one of the Levites, who was the firstborn of Shallum the Korahite, had the responsibility for the baking of cakes in pans.

Chapter 9
20And Phinehas the son of Eleazar was the ruler over them in time past, and the Lord was with him. 21And Zechariah the son of Meshelemiah was porter of the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
22All these which were chosen to be porters in the gates were two hundred and twelve. These were reckoned by their genealogy in their villages, whom David and Samuel the seer did ordain in their set office.
23So they and their children had the oversight of the gates of the house of the Lord, namely, the house of the tabernacle, by wards.
24In four quarters were the porters, toward the east, west, north, and south.
25And their brethren, which were in their villages, were to come after seven days from time to time with them.
26For these Levites, the four chief porters, were in their set office, and were over the chambers and treasuries of the house of God.
27And they lodged round about the house of God, because the charge was upon them, and the opening thereof every morning pertained to them.
28And certain of them had the charge of the ministering vessels, that they should bring them in and out by tale.
29Some of them also were appointed to oversee the vessels, and all the instruments of the sanctuary, and the fine flour, and the wine, and the oil, and the frankincense, and the spices.
30And some of the sons of the priests made the ointment of the spices.
31And Mattithiah, one of the Levites, who was the firstborn of Shallum the Korahite, had the set office over the things that were made in the pans.

Chapter 9
20In earlier times Phinehas son of Eleazar had been their leader, and the Lord was with him. 21Zechariah son of Meshelemiah was the gatekeeper at the entrance to the tent of meeting.
22The total number of those chosen to be gatekeepers at the thresholds was 212. They were registered by genealogy in their settlements. David and the seer Samuel had appointed them to their trusted positions.
23So they and their sons were assigned as guards to the gates of the Lord’s temple, which had been the tent-temple.
24The gatekeepers were on the four sides: east, west, north, and south.
25Their relatives came from their settlements at fixed times to be with them seven days,
26but the four chief gatekeepers, who were Levites, were entrusted with the rooms and the treasuries of God’s temple.
27They spent the night in the vicinity of God’s temple, because they had guard duty and were in charge of opening it every morning.
28Some of them were in charge of the utensils used in worship. They would count them when they brought them in and when they took them out.
29Others were put in charge of the furnishings and all the utensils of the sanctuary, as well as the fine flour, wine, oil, incense, and spices.
30Some of the priests’ sons mixed the spices.
31A Levite called Mattithiah, the firstborn of Shallum the Korahite, was entrusted with baking the bread.

Chapter 9
20Phinehas son of Eleazar had been in charge of the gatekeepers in earlier times, and the Lord had been with him. 21And later Zechariah son of Meshelemiah was responsible for guarding the entrance to the Tabernacle.
22In all, there were 212 gatekeepers in those days, and they were listed according to the genealogies in their villages. David and Samuel the seer had appointed their ancestors because they were reliable men.
23These gatekeepers and their descendants, by their divisions, were responsible for guarding the entrance to the house of the Lord when that house was a tent.
24The gatekeepers were stationed on all four sides — east, west, north, and south.
25Their relatives in the villages came regularly to share their duties for seven-day periods.
26The four chief gatekeepers, all Levites, were trusted officials, for they were responsible for the rooms and treasuries at the house of God.
27They would spend the night around the house of God, since it was their duty to guard it and to open the gates every morning.
28Some of the gatekeepers were assigned to care for the various articles used in worship. They checked them in and out to avoid any loss.
29Others were responsible for the furnishings, the items in the sanctuary, and the supplies, such as choice flour, wine, olive oil, frankincense, and spices.
30But it was the priests who blended the spices.
31Mattithiah, a Levite and the oldest son of Shallum the Korahite, was entrusted with baking the bread used in the offerings.

28Some of them had charge of the utensils of service, for they were required to count them when they were brought in and taken out.
29Others of them were appointed over the furniture and over all the holy utensils, also over the fine flour, the wine, the oil, the incense, and the spices.
30Others, of the sons of the priests, prepared the mixing of the spices,
31and Mattithiah, one of the Levites, the firstborn of Shallum the Korahite, was entrusted with making the flat cakes.
