1 Corinthians 12:20-28
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 12
20But now there are many parts, but one body. 21And the eye cannot say to the hand, 'I have no need of you'; or again, the head to the feet, 'I have no need of you.' 22On the contrary, it is much truer that the parts of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary; 23and those parts of the body which we consider less honorable, on these we bestow greater honor, and our less presentable parts become much more presentable, 24whereas our more presentable parts have no need of it. But God has so composed the body, giving more abundant honor to that part which lacked, 25so that there may be no division in the body, but that the parts may have the same care for one another. 26And if one part of the body suffers, all the parts suffer with it; if a part is honored, all the parts rejoice with it.King James Version
Chapter 12
20But now are they many members, yet but one body. 21And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you. 22Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary: 23And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness. 24For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked: 25That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another. 26And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 12
20As it is, there are many parts, but one body. 21The eye cannot say to the hand, "I don’t need you!" Or again, the head can’t say to the feet, "I don’t need you!" 22On the contrary, those parts of the body that are weaker are indispensable. 23And those parts of the body that we consider less honorable, we clothe these with greater honor, and our unrespectable parts are treated with greater respect,
24which our respectable parts do not need. Instead, God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the less honorable,
25so that there would be no division in the body, but that the members would have the same concern for each other.
26So if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.
New Living Translation
Chapter 12
20Yes, there are many parts, but only one body. 21The eye can never say to the hand, 'I don’t need you.' The head can’t say to the feet, 'I don’t need you.'
22In fact, some parts of the body that seem weakest and least important are actually the most necessary.
23And the parts we regard as less honorable are those we clothe with the greatest care. So we carefully protect those parts that should not be seen,
24while the more honorable parts do not require this special care. So God has put the body together such that extra honor and care are given to those parts that have less dignity.
25This makes for harmony among the members, so that all the members care for each other.
26If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it, and if one part is honored, all the parts are glad.
English Standard Version
21The eye cannot say to the hand, "I have no need of you," nor again the head to the feet, "I have no need of you."
22On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable,
23and on those parts of the body that we think less honorable we bestow the greater honor, and our unpresentable parts are treated with greater modesty,
24which our more presentable parts do not require. But God has so composed the body, giving greater honor to the part that lacked it,
25that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another.
26If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together.
New International Version
21The eye cannot say to the hand, "I don’t need you!" And the head cannot say to the feet, "I don’t need you!"
22On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable,
23and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty,
24while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it,
25so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other.
26If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.
