1 Corinthians 15:29-40
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 15
29For otherwise, what will those do who are baptized for the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why then are they baptized for them? 30Why are we also in danger every hour? 31I affirm, brothers and sisters, by the boasting in you which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, that I die daily. 32If from human motives I fought with wild beasts at Ephesus, what good is it to me? If the dead are not raised, LET’S EAT AND DRINK, FOR TOMORROW WE DIE. 33Do not be deceived: 'Bad company corrupts good morals.' 34Sober up morally and stop sinning, for some have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame.
35But someone will say, 'How are the dead raised? And with what kind of body do they come?'
36You fool! That which you sow does not come to life unless it dies;
37and that which you sow, you do not sow the body which is to be, but a bare grain, perhaps of wheat or of something else.
38But God gives it a body just as He wished, and to each of the seeds a body of its own.
39All flesh is not the same flesh, but there is one flesh of mankind, another flesh of animals, another flesh of birds, and another of fish.
40There are also heavenly bodies and earthly bodies, but the glory of the heavenly is one, and the glory of the earthly is another.
King James Version
Chapter 15
29Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not at all? why are they then baptized for the dead? 30And why stand we in jeopardy every hour? 31I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily. 32If after the manner of men I have fought with beasts at Ephesus, what advantageth it me, if the dead rise not? let us eat and drink; for to morrow we die.
35But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come?
36Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die:
37And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain:
38But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body.
39All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds.
40There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another.

Chapter 15
29Otherwise what will they do who are being baptized for the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, then why are people baptized for them? 30Why are we in danger every hour? 31I face death every day, as surely as I may boast about you, brothers and sisters, in Christ Jesus our Lord. 32If I fought wild beasts in Ephesus as a mere man, what good did that do me? If the dead are not raised, Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die. 33Do not be deceived: "Bad company corrupts good morals." 34Come to your senses and stop sinning; for some people are ignorant about God. I say this to your shame.
35But someone will ask, "How are the dead raised? What kind of body will they have when they come?"
36You fool! What you sow does not come to life unless it dies.
37And as for what you sow—you are not sowing the body that will be, but only a seed, perhaps of wheat or another grain.
38But God gives it a body as he wants, and to each of the seeds its own body.
39Not all flesh is the same flesh; there is one flesh for humans, another for animals, another for birds, and another for fish.
40There are heavenly bodies and earthly bodies, but the splendor of the heavenly bodies is different from that of the earthly ones.
New Living Translation
30And why should we ourselves risk our lives hour by hour?
31For I swear, dear brothers and sisters, that I face death daily. This is as certain as my pride in what Christ Jesus our Lord has done in you.
32And what value was there in fighting wild beasts — those people of Ephesus — if there will be no resurrection from the dead? And if there is no resurrection, 'Let’s feast and drink, for tomorrow we die!'
33Don’t be fooled by those who say such things, for 'bad company corrupts good character.'
34Think carefully about what is right, and stop sinning. For to your shame I say that some of you don’t know God at all.
35But someone may ask, 'How will the dead be raised? What kind of bodies will they have?'
36What a foolish question! When you put a seed into the ground, it doesn’t grow into a plant unless it dies first.
37And what you put in the ground is not the plant that will grow, but only a bare seed of wheat or whatever you are planting.
38Then God gives it the new body he wants it to have. A different plant grows from each kind of seed.
39Similarly there are different kinds of flesh — one kind for humans, another for animals, another for birds, and another for fish.

Chapter 15
29Otherwise, what do people mean by being baptized on behalf of the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why are people baptized on their behalf? 30Why are we in danger every hour? 31I protest, brothers, by my pride in you, which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die every day! 32What do I gain if, humanly speaking, I fought with beasts at Ephesus? If the dead are not raised, "Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die." 33Do not be deceived: "Bad company ruins good morals." 34Wake up from your drunken stupor, as is right, and do not go on sinning. For some have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame.
35But someone will ask, "How are the dead raised? With what kind of body do they come?"
36You foolish person! What you sow does not come to life unless it dies.
37And what you sow is not the body that is to be, but a bare kernel, perhaps of wheat or of some other grain.
38But God gives it a body as he has chosen, and to each kind of seed its own body.
39For not all flesh is the same, but there is one kind for humans, another for animals, another for birds, and another for fish.
40There are heavenly bodies and earthly bodies, but the glory of the heavenly is of one kind, and the glory of the earthly is of another.
New International Version
Chapter 15
29Now if there is no resurrection, what will those do who are baptized for the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why are people baptized for them? 30And as for us, why do we endanger ourselves every hour? 31I face death every day—yes, just as surely as I boast about you in Christ Jesus our Lord.
33Do not be misled: "Bad company corrupts good character."
34Come back to your senses as you ought, and stop sinning; for there are some who are ignorant of God—I say this to your shame.
35But someone will ask, "How are the dead raised? With what kind of body will they come?"
36How foolish! What you sow does not come to life unless it dies.
37When you sow, you do not plant the body that will be, but just a seed, perhaps of wheat or of something else.
38But God gives it a body as he has determined, and to each kind of seed he gives its own body.
39Not all flesh is the same: People have one kind of flesh, animals have another, birds another and fish another.
40There are also heavenly bodies and there are earthly bodies; but the splendor of the heavenly bodies is one kind, and the splendor of the earthly bodies is another.

Chapter 15
29Otherwise, what will they do who are baptized for the dead, if the dead do not rise at all? Why then are they baptized for the dead? 30And why do we stand in jeopardy every hour? 31I affirm, by the boasting in you which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily. 32If, in the manner of men, I have fought with beasts at Ephesus, what advantage is it to me? If the dead do not rise, “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!”
33Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits.”
34Awake to righteousness, and do not sin; for some do not have the knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame.
35But someone will say, “How are the dead raised up? And with what body do they come?”
36Foolish one, what you sow is not made alive unless it dies.
37And what you sow, you do not sow that body that shall be, but mere grain—perhaps wheat or some other grain.
38But God gives it a body as He pleases, and to each seed its own body.
