1 Corinthians 3:3-8
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 3
3for you are still fleshly. For since there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not fleshly, and are you not walking like ordinary people? 4For when one person says, 'I am with Paul,' and another, 'I am with Apollos,' are you not ordinary people?
5What then is Apollos? And what is Paul? Servants through whom you believed, even as the Lord gave opportunity to each one.
6I planted, Apollos watered, but God was causing the growth.
7So then neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but God who causes the growth.
8Now the one who plants and the one who waters are one; but each will receive his own reward according to his own labor.
King James Version
Chapter 3
3For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men? 4For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal? 5Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man? 6I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. 7So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase. 8Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 3
3because you are still worldly. For since there is envy and strife among you, are you not worldly and behaving like mere humans? 4For whenever someone says, "I belong to Paul," and another, "I belong to Apollos," are you not acting like mere humans?
5What then is Apollos? What is Paul? They are servants through whom you believed, and each has the role the Lord has given.
6I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth.
7So then neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth.
8Now he who plants and he who waters are one, and each will receive his own reward according to his own labor.
New Living Translation
Chapter 3
3for you are still controlled by your sinful nature. You are jealous of one another and quarrel with each other. Doesn’t that prove you are controlled by your sinful nature? Aren’t you living like people of the world? 4When one of you says, 'I am a follower of Paul,' and another says, 'I follow Apollos,' aren’t you acting just like people of the world?
5After all, who is Apollos? Who is Paul? We are only God’s servants through whom you believed the Good News. Each of us did the work the Lord gave us.
6I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow.
7It’s not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What’s important is that God makes the seed grow.
8The one who plants and the one who waters work together with the same purpose. And both will be rewarded for their own hard work.
English Standard Version
Chapter 3
3for you are still of the flesh. For while there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not of the flesh and behaving only in a human way? 4For when one says, "I follow Paul," and another, "I follow Apollos," are you not being merely human?
5What then is Apollos? What is Paul? Servants through whom you believed, as the Lord assigned to each.
6I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth.
7So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth.
8He who plants and he who waters are one, and each will receive his wages according to his labor.
New International Version
Chapter 3
3You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere humans? 4For when one says, "I follow Paul," and another, "I follow Apollos," are you not mere human beings?
5What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task.
6I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow.
7So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.
8The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor.
