Chapter 9
7then I will cut Israel off from the land which I have given them, and the house which I have consecrated for My name, I will expel from My sight. So Israel will become a saying and an object of derision among all peoples. 8And this house will become a heap of ruins; everyone who passes by it will be appalled and hiss and say, ‘Why has the Lord done such a thing to this land and this house?’ 9And they will say, ‘Because they abandoned the Lord their God, who brought their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and they adopted other gods and worshiped and served them, for that reason the Lord has brought all this adversity on them.’?'
10Now it came about at the end of twenty years in which Solomon had built the two houses, the house of the Lord and the king’s house
11(Hiram king of Tyre had supplied Solomon with cedar and juniper timber and gold, satisfying all his desire), that King Solomon then gave Hiram twenty cities in the land of Galilee.
12So Hiram left Tyre to see the cities which Solomon had given him, and they did not please him.
13And he said, 'What are these cities which you have given me, my brother?' So they have been called the land of Cabul to this day.
14And Hiram sent to the king 120 talents of gold.
15Now this is the account of the forced labor which King Solomon conscripted to build the house of the Lord, his own house, the Millo, the wall of Jerusalem, Hazor, Megiddo, and Gezer.
16For Pharaoh king of Egypt had gone up and overthrown Gezer and burned it with fire, and killed the Canaanites who lived in the city; and he had given it as a dowry to his daughter, Solomon’s wife.
17So Solomon rebuilt Gezer and the lower Beth-horon,
18and Baalath and Tamar in the wilderness, in the land of Judah,
19and all the storage cities which Solomon had, that is, the cities for his chariots and the cities for his horsemen, and everything that it pleased Solomon to build in Jerusalem, in Lebanon, and in all the land under his rule.
20As for all the people who were left of the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, who were not of the sons of Israel,

7Then will I cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them; and this house, which I have hallowed for my name, will I cast out of my sight; and Israel shall be a proverb and a byword among all people: 8And at this house, which is high, every one that passeth by it shall be astonished, and shall hiss; and they shall say, Why hath the Lord done thus unto this land, and to this house? 9And they shall answer, Because they forsook the Lord their God, who brought forth their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and have taken hold upon other gods, and have worshipped them, and served them: therefore hath the Lord brought upon them all this evil. 10And it came to pass at the end of twenty years, when Solomon had built the two houses, the house of the Lord, and the king's house, 11(Now Hiram the king of Tyre had furnished Solomon with cedar trees and fir trees, and with gold, according to all his desire,) that then king Solomon gave Hiram twenty cities in the land of Galilee. 12And Hiram came out from Tyre to see the cities which Solomon had given him; and they pleased him not. 13And he said, What cities are these which thou hast given me, my brother? And he called them the land of Cabul unto this day. 14And Hiram sent to the king sixscore talents of gold.
15And this is the reason of the levy which king Solomon raised; for to build the house of the Lord, and his own house, and Millo, and the wall of Jerusalem, and Hazor, and Megiddo, and Gezer.
16For Pharaoh king of Egypt had gone up, and taken Gezer, and burnt it with fire, and slain the Canaanites that dwelt in the city, and given it for a present unto his daughter, Solomon's wife.
17And Solomon built Gezer, and Bethhoron the nether,
18And Baalath, and Tadmor in the wilderness, in the land,
19And all the cities of store that Solomon had, and cities for his chariots, and cities for his horsemen, and that which Solomon desired to build in Jerusalem, and in Lebanon, and in all the land of his dominion.
20And all the people that were left of the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites, which were not of the children of Israel,

7I will cut off Israel from the land I gave them, and I will reject the temple I have sanctified for my name. Israel will become an object of scorn and ridicule among all the peoples. 8Though this temple is now exalted, everyone who passes by will be appalled and will scoff. They will say: Why did the Lord do this to this land and this temple? 9Then they will say: Because they abandoned the Lord their God who brought their ancestors out of the land of Egypt. They held on to other gods and bowed in worship to them and served them. Because of this, the Lord brought all this ruin on them.
10At the end of twenty years during which Solomon had built the two houses, the Lord’s temple and the royal palace —
11King Hiram of Tyre having supplied him with cedar and cypress logs and gold for his every wish —King Solomon gave Hiram twenty towns in the land of Galilee.
12So Hiram went out from Tyre to look over the towns that Solomon had given him, but he was not pleased with them.
13So he said, "What are these towns you’ve given me, my brother?" So he called them the Land of Cabul, as they are still called today.
14Now Hiram had sent the king nine thousand pounds of gold.
15This is the account of the forced labor that King Solomon had imposed to build the Lord’s temple, his own palace, the supporting terraces, the wall of Jerusalem, and Hazor, Megiddo, and Gezer.
16Pharaoh king of Egypt had attacked and captured Gezer. He then burned it, killed the Canaanites who lived in the city, and gave it as a dowry to his daughter, Solomon’s wife.
17Then Solomon rebuilt Gezer, Lower Beth-horon,
18Baalath, Tamar in the Wilderness of Judah,
19all the storage cities that belonged to Solomon, the chariot cities, the cavalry cities, and whatever Solomon desired to build in Jerusalem, Lebanon, or anywhere else in the land of his dominion.

Chapter 9
7then I will uproot Israel from this land that I have given them. I will reject this Temple that I have made holy to honor my name. I will make Israel an object of mockery and ridicule among the nations. 8And though this Temple is impressive now, all who pass by will be appalled and will gasp in horror. They will ask, ‘Why did the Lord do such terrible things to this land and to this Temple?’
10It took Solomon twenty years to build the Lord’s Temple and his own royal palace. At the end of that time,
11he gave twenty towns in the land of Galilee to King Hiram of Tyre. (Hiram had previously provided all the cedar and cypress timber and gold that Solomon had requested.)
12But when Hiram came from Tyre to see the towns Solomon had given him, he was not at all pleased with them.
13What kind of towns are these, my brother?' he asked. So Hiram called that area Cabul (which means 'worthless'), as it is still known today.
14Nevertheless, Hiram paid Solomon 9,000 pounds of gold.
15This is the account of the forced labor that King Solomon conscripted to build the Lord’s Temple, the royal palace, the supporting terraces, the wall of Jerusalem, and the cities of Hazor, Megiddo, and Gezer.
16(Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, had attacked and captured Gezer, killing the Canaanite population and burning it down. He gave the city to his daughter as a wedding gift when she married Solomon.
17So Solomon rebuilt the city of Gezer.) He also built up the towns of Lower Beth-horon,
18Baalath, and Tamar in the wilderness within his land.
19He built towns as supply centers and constructed towns where his chariots and horses could be stationed. He built everything he desired in Jerusalem and Lebanon and throughout his entire realm.

12But when Hiram went from Tyre to see the towns that Solomon had given him, he was not pleased with them.
13"What kind of towns are these you have given me, my brother?" he asked. And he called them the Land of Kabul, a name they have to this day.
