Chapter 15

21But the people took some of the spoils, sheep and oxen, the choicest of the things designated for destruction, to sacrifice to the Lord your God at Gilgal.'
22Samuel said, 'Does the Lord have as much delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices As in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than a sacrifice, And to pay attention is better than the fat of rams.
23For rebellion is as reprehensible as the sin of divination, And insubordination is as reprehensible as false religion and idolatry. Since you have rejected the word of the Lord, He has also rejected you from being king.'
24Then Saul said to Samuel, 'I have sinned, for I have violated the command of the Lord and your words, because I feared the people and listened to their voice. 25Now then, please pardon my sin and return with me, so that I may worship the Lord.' 26But Samuel said to Saul, 'I will not return with you; for you have rejected the word of the Lord, and the Lord has rejected you from being king over Israel.' 27Then Samuel turned to go, but Saul grasped the edge of his robe, and it tore off.

21But the people took of the spoil, sheep and oxen, the chief of the things which should have been utterly destroyed, to sacrifice unto the Lord thy God in Gilgal.
22And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
23For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, he hath also rejected thee from being king. 24And Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned: for I have transgressed the commandment of the Lord, and thy words: because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice. 25Now therefore, I pray thee, pardon my sin, and turn again with me, that I may worship the Lord.
26And Samuel said unto Saul, I will not return with thee: for thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, and the Lord hath rejected thee from being king over Israel.
27And as Samuel turned about to go away, he laid hold upon the skirt of his mantle, and it rent.

24Saul answered Samuel, "I have sinned. I have transgressed the Lord’s command and your words. Because I was afraid of the people, I obeyed them. 25Now therefore, please forgive my sin and return with me so I can worship the Lord."
26Samuel replied to Saul, "I will not return with you. Because you rejected the word of the Lord, the Lord has rejected you from being king over Israel." 27When Samuel turned to go, Saul grabbed the corner of his robe, and it tore.

Chapter 15

21Then my troops brought in the best of the sheep, goats, cattle, and plunder to sacrifice to the Lord your God in Gilgal.'
22But Samuel replied, 'What is more pleasing to the Lord: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice? Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams. 23Rebellion is as sinful as witchcraft, and stubbornness as bad as worshiping idols. So because you have rejected the command of the Lord, he has rejected you as king.'
24Then Saul admitted to Samuel, 'Yes, I have sinned. I have disobeyed your instructions and the Lord’s command, for I was afraid of the people and did what they demanded. 25But now, please forgive my sin and come back with me so that I may worship the Lord.'
26But Samuel replied, 'I will not go back with you! Since you have rejected the Lord’s command, he has rejected you as king of Israel.'
27As Samuel turned to go, Saul tried to hold him back and tore the hem of his robe.

For you have rejected the word of the Lord, and the Lord has rejected you from being king over Israel." 27As Samuel turned to go away, Saul seized the skirt of his robe, and it tore.

24Then Saul said to Samuel, "I have sinned. I violated the Lord’s command and your instructions. I was afraid of the men and so I gave in to them. 25Now I beg you, forgive my sin and come back with me, so that I may worship the Lord."
26But Samuel said to him, "I will not go back with you. You have rejected the word of the Lord, and the Lord has rejected you as king over Israel!"
27As Samuel turned to leave, Saul caught hold of the hem of his robe, and it tore.
