Chapter 23

27But a messenger came to Saul, saying, 'Hurry and come, for the Philistines have launched an attack against the land!' 28So Saul returned from pursuing David and went to confront the Philistines; therefore they called that place the Rock of Division.

Chapter 23

27But there came a messenger unto Saul, saying, Haste thee, and come; for the Philistines have invaded the land.
28Wherefore Saul returned from pursuing after David, and went against the Philistines: therefore they called that place Selahammahlekoth.

Chapter 23

27Then a messenger came to Saul saying, "Come quickly, because the Philistines have raided the land!" 28So Saul broke off his pursuit of David and went to engage the Philistines. Therefore, that place was named the Rock of Separation.

27an urgent message reached Saul that the Philistines were raiding Israel again. 28So Saul quit chasing David and returned to fight the Philistines. Ever since that time, the place where David was camped has been called the Rock of Escape.
