2 Kings 8:20-23
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 8
20In his days Edom broke away from the rule of Judah, and appointed a king over themselves. 21Then Joram crossed over to Zair, and all his chariots with him. And he got up at night and struck the Edomites who had surrounded him and the captains of the chariots; but his army fled to their tents. 22So Edom has broken away from Judah to this day. Then Libnah broke away at the same time. 23Now the rest of the acts of Joram and everything that he did, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?King James Version
Chapter 8
20In his days Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah, and made a king over themselves. 21So Joram went over to Zair, and all the chariots with him: and he rose by night, and smote the Edomites which compassed him about, and the captains of the chariots: and the people fled into their tents. 22Yet Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah unto this day. Then Libnah revolted at the same time.Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 8
20During Jehoram’s reign, Edom rebelled against Judah’s control and appointed their own king. 21So Jehoram crossed over to Zair with all his chariots. Then at night he set out to attack the Edomites who had surrounded him and the chariot commanders, but his troops fled to their tents. 22So Edom is still in rebellion against Judah’s control today. Libnah also rebelled at that time.New Living Translation
Chapter 8
20During Jehoram’s reign, the Edomites revolted against Judah and crowned their own king. 21So Jehoram went with all his chariots to attack the town of Zair. The Edomites surrounded him and his chariot commanders, but he went out at night and attacked them under cover of darkness. But Jehoram’s army deserted him and fled to their homes. 22So Edom has been independent from Judah to this day. The town of Libnah also revolted about that same time.English Standard Version
