Acts 11:8-17
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 11
8But I said, ‘By no means, Lord, for nothing unholy or unclean has ever entered my mouth.’ 9But a voice from heaven answered a second time, ‘What God has cleansed, no longer consider unholy.’ 10This happened three times, and everything was drawn back up into the sky. 11And behold, at that moment three men who had been sent to me from Caesarea came up to the house where we were staying. 12And the Spirit told me to go with them without misgivings. These six brothers also went with me, and we entered the man’s house. 13And he reported to us how he had seen the angel standing in his house, and saying, ‘Send some men to Joppa and have Simon, who is also called Peter, brought here; 14and he will speak words to you by which you will be saved, you and all your household.’ 15And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them just as He did upon us at the beginning. 16And I remembered the word of the Lord, how He used to say, ‘John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’ 17Therefore, if God gave them the same gift as He also gave to us after believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could stand in God’s way?'King James Version
Chapter 11
8But I said, Not so, Lord: for nothing common or unclean hath at any time entered into my mouth. 9But the voice answered me again from heaven, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common. 10And this was done three times: and all were drawn up again into heaven. 11And, behold, immediately there were three men already come unto the house where I was, sent from Caesarea unto me. 12And the Spirit bade me go with them, nothing doubting. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered into the man's house: 13And he shewed us how he had seen an angel in his house, which stood and said unto him, Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter; 14Who shall tell thee words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved. 15And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning. 16Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost. 17Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God?Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 11
8"‘No, Lord!’ I said. ‘For nothing impure or ritually unclean has ever entered my mouth.’ 9But a voice answered from heaven a second time, ‘What God has made clean, you must not call impure.’
10"Now this happened three times, and everything was drawn up again into heaven.
11At that very moment, three men who had been sent to me from Caesarea arrived at the house where we were.
12The Spirit told me to accompany them with no doubts at all. These six brothers also accompanied me, and we went into the man’s house.
13He reported to us how he had seen the angel standing in his house and saying, ‘Send to Joppa, and call for Simon, who is also named Peter.
14He will speak a message to you by which you and all your household will be saved.’
15"As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit came down on them, just as on us at the beginning.
16I remembered the word of the Lord, how he said, ‘John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’
17If, then, God gave them the same gift that he also gave to us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, how could I possibly hinder God?"
New Living Translation
9But the voice from heaven spoke again: ‘Do not call something unclean if God has made it clean.’
10This happened three times before the sheet and all it contained was pulled back up to heaven.
11Just then three men who had been sent from Caesarea arrived at the house where we were staying.
12The Holy Spirit told me to go with them and not to worry that they were Gentiles. These six brothers here accompanied me, and we soon entered the home of the man who had sent for us.
13He told us how an angel had appeared to him in his home and had told him, ‘Send messengers to Joppa, and summon a man named Simon Peter.
14He will tell you how you and everyone in your household can be saved!’
15As I began to speak,' Peter continued, 'the Holy Spirit fell on them, just as he fell on us at the beginning.
16Then I thought of the Lord’s words when he said, ‘John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’
17And since God gave these Gentiles the same gift he gave us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to stand in God’s way?'

9"The voice spoke from heaven a second time, ‘Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.’
10This happened three times, and then it was all pulled up to heaven again.
11"Right then three men who had been sent to me from Caesarea stopped at the house where I was staying.
12The Spirit told me to have no hesitation about going with them. These six brothers also went with me, and we entered the man’s house.
13He told us how he had seen an angel appear in his house and say, ‘Send to Joppa for Simon who is called Peter.
14He will bring you a message through which you and all your household will be saved.’
15"As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit came on them as he had come on us at the beginning.
16Then I remembered what the Lord had said: ‘John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’
17So if God gave them the same gift he gave us who believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to think that I could stand in God’s way?"
