14But Peter, taking his stand with the other eleven, raised his voice and declared to them: 'Men of Judea and all you who live in Jerusalem, know this, and pay attention to my words.

Chapter 2
9Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, 10Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, 11Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God. 12And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this? 13Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine.
14But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:
15For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.
16But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;

Chapter 2
9Parthians, Medes, Elamites; those who live in Mesopotamia, in Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 10Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome (both Jews and converts), 11Cretans and Arabs—we hear them declaring the magnificent acts of God in our own tongues." 12They were all astounded and perplexed, saying to one another, "What does this mean?" 13But some sneered and said, "They’re drunk on new wine."
14Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice, and proclaimed to them: "Fellow Jews and all you residents of Jerusalem, let me explain this to you and pay attention to my words.
15For these people are not drunk, as you suppose, since it’s only nine in the morning.
16On the contrary, this is what was spoken through the prophet Joel:
New Living Translation
Chapter 2
9Here we are — Parthians, Medes, Elamites, people from Mesopotamia, Judea, Cappadocia, Pontus, the province of Asia, 10Phrygia, Pamphylia, Egypt, and the areas of Libya around Cyrene, visitors from Rome 11(both Jews and converts to Judaism), Cretans, and Arabs. And we all hear these people speaking in our own languages about the wonderful things God has done!' 12They stood there amazed and perplexed. 'What can this mean?' they asked each other.
14Then Peter stepped forward with the eleven other apostles and shouted to the crowd, 'Listen carefully, all of you, fellow Jews and residents of Jerusalem! Make no mistake about this.
15These people are not drunk, as some of you are assuming. Nine o’clock in the morning is much too early for that.
16No, what you see was predicted long ago by the prophet Joel:
