2being greatly disturbed because they were teaching the people and proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection from the dead. 3And they laid hands on them and put them in prison until the next day, for it was already evening. 4But many of those who had heard the message believed; and the number of the men came to be about five thousand.
5On the next day, their rulers and elders and scribes were gathered together in Jerusalem;
6and Annas the high priest was there, and Caiaphas, John, and Alexander, and all who were of high-priestly descent.
7When they had placed them in the center, they began to inquire, 'By what power, or in what name, have you done this?'
8Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, 'Rulers and elders of the people,

2because they were annoyed that they were teaching the people and proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection of the dead. 3So they seized them and took them into custody until the next day since it was already evening. 4But many of those who heard the message believed, and the number of the men came to about five thousand.
5The next day, their rulers, elders, and scribes assembled in Jerusalem
6with Annas the high priest, Caiaphas, John, Alexander, and all the members of the high-priestly family.
7After they had Peter and John stand before them, they began to question them: "By what power or in what name have you done this?"

2These leaders were very disturbed that Peter and John were teaching the people that through Jesus there is a resurrection of the dead. 3They arrested them and, since it was already evening, put them in jail until morning. 4But many of the people who heard their message believed it, so the number of men who believed now totaled about 5,000.
5The next day the council of all the rulers and elders and teachers of religious law met in Jerusalem.
6Annas the high priest was there, along with Caiaphas, John, Alexander, and other relatives of the high priest.
7They brought in the two disciples and demanded, 'By what power, or in whose name, have you done this?'
