Deuteronomy 19:11-20
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 19
11But if there is a person who hates his neighbor, and waits in ambush for him and rises up against him and strikes him so that he dies, and he flees to one of these cities, 12then the elders of his city shall send men and take him from there, and hand him over to the avenger of blood, so that he may die. 13You shall not pity him, but you shall eliminate the guilt for the bloodshed of the innocent from Israel, so that it may go well for you.
15A single witness shall not rise up against a person regarding any wrongdoing or any sin that he commits; on the testimony of two or three witnesses a matter shall be confirmed.
16If a malicious witness rises up against a person to testify against him of wrongdoing,
17then both people who have the dispute shall stand before the Lord, before the priests and the judges who will be in office in those days.
18And the judges shall investigate thoroughly, and if the witness is a false witness and he has testified against his brother falsely,
19then you shall do to him just as he had planned to do to his brother. So you shall eliminate the evil from among you.
20And the rest of the people will hear and be afraid, and will never again do such an evil thing among you.
King James Version
Chapter 19
11But if any man hate his neighbour, and lie in wait for him, and rise up against him, and smite him mortally that he die, and fleeth into one of these cities: 12Then the elders of his city shall send and fetch him thence, and deliver him into the hand of the avenger of blood, that he may die. 13Thine eye shall not pity him, but thou shalt put away the guilt of innocent blood from Israel, that it may go well with thee. 14Thou shalt not remove thy neighbour's landmark, which they of old time have set in thine inheritance, which thou shalt inherit in the land that the Lord thy God giveth thee to possess it.
15One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sinneth: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established.
16If a false witness rise up against any man to testify against him that which is wrong;
17Then both the men, between whom the controversy is, shall stand before the Lord, before the priests and the judges, which shall be in those days;
18And the judges shall make diligent inquisition: and, behold, if the witness be a false witness, and hath testified falsely against his brother;
19Then shall ye do unto him, as he had thought to have done unto his brother: so shalt thou put the evil away from among you.
20And those which remain shall hear, and fear, and shall henceforth commit no more any such evil among you.

Chapter 19
11But if someone hates his neighbor, lies in ambush for him, attacks him, and strikes him fatally, and flees to one of these cities, 12the elders of his city are to send for him, take him from there, and hand him over to the avenger of blood and he will die. 13Do not look on him with pity but purge from Israel the guilt of shedding innocent blood, and you will prosper.
16"If a malicious witness testifies against someone accusing him of a crime,
17the two people in the dispute are to stand in the presence of the Lord before the priests and judges in authority at that time.
18The judges are to make a careful investigation, and if the witness turns out to be a liar who has falsely accused his brother,
19you must do to him as he intended to do to his brother. You must purge the evil from you.
20Then everyone else will hear and be afraid, and they will never again do anything evil like this among you.
New Living Translation
Chapter 19
11But suppose someone is hostile toward a neighbor and deliberately ambushes and murders him and then flees to one of the cities of refuge. 12In that case, the elders of the murderer’s hometown must send agents to the city of refuge to bring him back and hand him over to the dead person’s avenger to be put to death. 13Do not feel sorry for that murderer! Purge from Israel the guilt of murdering innocent people; then all will go well with you.
16If a malicious witness comes forward and accuses someone of a crime,
17then both the accuser and accused must appear before the Lord by coming to the priests and judges in office at that time.
18The judges must investigate the case thoroughly. If the accuser has brought false charges against his fellow Israelite,
19you must impose on the accuser the sentence he intended for the other person. In this way, you will purge such evil from among you.
20Then the rest of the people will hear about it and be afraid to do such an evil thing.

Chapter 19
11"But if anyone hates his neighbor and lies in wait for him and attacks him and strikes him fatally so that he dies, and he flees into one of these cities, 12then the elders of his city shall send and take him from there, and hand him over to the avenger of blood, so that he may die. 13Your eye shall not pity him, but you shall purge the guilt of innocent blood from Israel, so that it may be well with you.
15"A single witness shall not suffice against a person for any crime or for any wrong in connection with any offense that he has committed. Only on the evidence of two witnesses or of three witnesses shall a charge be established.
16If a malicious witness arises to accuse a person of wrongdoing,
17then both parties to the dispute shall appear before the Lord, before the priests and the judges who are in office in those days.
18The judges shall inquire diligently, and if the witness is a false witness and has accused his brother falsely,
19then you shall do to him as he had meant to do to his brother. So you shall purge the evil from your midst.
20And the rest shall hear and fear, and shall never again commit any such evil among you.
New International Version
Chapter 19
11But if out of hate someone lies in wait, assaults and kills a neighbor, and then flees to one of these cities, 12the killer shall be sent for by the town elders, be brought back from the city, and be handed over to the avenger of blood to die. 13Show no pity. You must purge from Israel the guilt of shedding innocent blood, so that it may go well with you.
16If a malicious witness takes the stand to accuse someone of a crime,
17the two people involved in the dispute must stand in the presence of the Lord before the priests and the judges who are in office at the time.
18The judges must make a thorough investigation, and if the witness proves to be a liar, giving false testimony against a fellow Israelite,
19then do to the false witness as that witness intended to do to the other party. You must purge the evil from among you.
20The rest of the people will hear of this and be afraid, and never again will such an evil thing be done among you.
