Chapter 6

2And it was found written what Mordecai had reported about Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king’s eunuchs who were doorkeepers, that they had sought to attack King Ahasuerus. 3Then the king said, 'What honor or dignity has been bestowed on Mordecai for this?' And the king’s servants who attended him said, 'Nothing has been done for him.' 4So the king said, 'Who is in the courtyard?' Now Haman had just entered the outer courtyard of the king’s palace in order to speak to the king about hanging Mordecai on the wooden gallows which he had prepared for him. 5So the king’s servants said to him, 'Behold, Haman is standing in the courtyard.' And the king said, 'Have him come in.' 6Haman then came in and the king said to him, 'What is to be done for the man whom the king desires to honor?' And Haman said to himself, 'Whom would the king desire to honor more than me?' 7Therefore Haman said to the king, 'For the man whom the king desires to honor, 8have them bring a royal robe which the king has worn, and the horse on which the king has ridden, and on whose head a royal turban has been placed;

Chapter 6

2And it was found written, that Mordecai had told of Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king's chamberlains, the keepers of the door, who sought to lay hand on the king Ahasuerus.
3And the king said, What honour and dignity hath been done to Mordecai for this? Then said the king's servants that ministered unto him, There is nothing done for him.
4And the king said, Who is in the court? Now Haman was come into the outward court of the king's house, to speak unto the king to hang Mordecai on the gallows that he had prepared for him. 5And the king's servants said unto him, Behold, Haman standeth in the court. And the king said, Let him come in.
6So Haman came in. And the king said unto him, What shall be done unto the man whom the king delighteth to honour? Now Haman thought in his heart, To whom would the king delight to do honour more than to myself? 7And Haman answered the king, For the man whom the king delighteth to honour, 8Let the royal apparel be brought which the king useth to wear, and the horse that the king rideth upon, and the crown royal which is set upon his head:

Chapter 6

2They found the written report of how Mordecai had informed on Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king’s eunuchs who guarded the entrance, when they planned to assassinate King Ahasuerus.
3The king inquired, "What honor and special recognition have been given to Mordecai for this act?" The king’s personal attendants replied, "Nothing has been done for him."
4The king asked, "Who is in the court?" Now Haman was just entering the outer court of the palace to ask the king to hang Mordecai on the gallows he had prepared for him.
5The king’s attendants answered him, "Haman is there, standing in the court." "Have him enter," the king ordered.
6Haman entered, and the king asked him, "What should be done for the man the king wants to honor?" Haman thought to himself, "Who is it the king would want to honor more than me?" 7Haman told the king, "For the man the king wants to honor: 8Have them bring a royal garment that the king himself has worn and a horse the king himself has ridden, which has a royal crown on its head.

Chapter 6

2In those records he discovered an account of how Mordecai had exposed the plot of Bigthana and Teresh, two of the eunuchs who guarded the door to the king’s private quarters. They had plotted to assassinate King Xerxes.
3What reward or recognition did we ever give Mordecai for this?' the king asked. His attendants replied, 'Nothing has been done for him.'
4Who is that in the outer court?' the king inquired. As it happened, Haman had just arrived in the outer court of the palace to ask the king to impale Mordecai on the pole he had prepared.
5So the attendants replied to the king, 'Haman is out in the court.' 'Bring him in,' the king ordered.
6So Haman came in, and the king said, 'What should I do to honor a man who truly pleases me?' Haman thought to himself, 'Whom would the king wish to honor more than me?' 7So he replied, 'If the king wishes to honor someone, 8he should bring out one of the king’s own royal robes, as well as a horse that the king himself has ridden — one with a royal emblem on its head.

Now Haman had just entered the outer court of the king 's palace to speak to the king about having Mordecai hanged on the gallows that he had prepared for him. 5And the king 's young men told him, "Haman is there, standing in the court."
