Chapter 6

4So the king said, 'Who is in the courtyard?' Now Haman had just entered the outer courtyard of the king’s palace in order to speak to the king about hanging Mordecai on the wooden gallows which he had prepared for him. 5So the king’s servants said to him, 'Behold, Haman is standing in the courtyard.' And the king said, 'Have him come in.' 6Haman then came in and the king said to him, 'What is to be done for the man whom the king desires to honor?' And Haman said to himself, 'Whom would the king desire to honor more than me?' 7Therefore Haman said to the king, 'For the man whom the king desires to honor, 8have them bring a royal robe which the king has worn, and the horse on which the king has ridden, and on whose head a royal turban has been placed; 9then order them to hand the robe and the horse over to one of the king’s noble officials, and have them dress the man whom the king desires to honor, and lead him on horseback through the city square, and proclaim before him, ‘So it shall be done for the man whom the king desires to honor.’?'
10Then the king said to Haman, 'Quickly, take the robe and the horse just as you have said, and do so for Mordecai the Jew, who is sitting at the king’s gate; do not fail to do anything of all that you have said.' 11So Haman took the robe and the horse, and dressed Mordecai, and led him on horseback through the city square, and proclaimed before him, 'So it shall be done for the man whom the king desires to honor.'
12Then Mordecai returned to the king’s gate, while Haman hurried home, mourning, with his head covered.

4And the king said, Who is in the court? Now Haman was come into the outward court of the king's house, to speak unto the king to hang Mordecai on the gallows that he had prepared for him. 5And the king's servants said unto him, Behold, Haman standeth in the court. And the king said, Let him come in.
6So Haman came in. And the king said unto him, What shall be done unto the man whom the king delighteth to honour? Now Haman thought in his heart, To whom would the king delight to do honour more than to myself? 7And Haman answered the king, For the man whom the king delighteth to honour, 8Let the royal apparel be brought which the king useth to wear, and the horse that the king rideth upon, and the crown royal which is set upon his head: 9And let this apparel and horse be delivered to the hand of one of the king's most noble princes, that they may array the man withal whom the king delighteth to honour, and bring him on horseback through the street of the city, and proclaim before him, Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delighteth to honour.
10Then the king said to Haman, Make haste, and take the apparel and the horse, as thou hast said, and do even so to Mordecai the Jew, that sitteth at the king's gate: let nothing fail of all that thou hast spoken.
11Then took Haman the apparel and the horse, and arrayed Mordecai, and brought him on horseback through the street of the city, and proclaimed before him, Thus shall it be done unto the man whom the king delighteth to honour.
12And Mordecai came again to the king's gate. But Haman hasted to his house mourning, and having his head covered.

4The king asked, "Who is in the court?" Now Haman was just entering the outer court of the palace to ask the king to hang Mordecai on the gallows he had prepared for him.
5The king’s attendants answered him, "Haman is there, standing in the court." "Have him enter," the king ordered.
6Haman entered, and the king asked him, "What should be done for the man the king wants to honor?" Haman thought to himself, "Who is it the king would want to honor more than me?" 7Haman told the king, "For the man the king wants to honor: 8Have them bring a royal garment that the king himself has worn and a horse the king himself has ridden, which has a royal crown on its head. 9Put the garment and the horse under the charge of one of the king’s most noble officials. Have them clothe the man the king wants to honor, parade him on the horse through the city square, and proclaim before him, ‘This is what is done for the man the king wants to honor.’"
10The king told Haman, "Hurry, and do just as you proposed. Take a garment and a horse for Mordecai the Jew, who is sitting at the King’s Gate. Do not leave out anything you have suggested."
11So Haman took the garment and the horse. He clothed Mordecai and paraded him through the city square, crying out before him, "This is what is done for the man the king wants to honor."
12Then Mordecai returned to the King’s Gate, but Haman hurried off for home, mournful and with his head covered.

Chapter 6

4Who is that in the outer court?' the king inquired. As it happened, Haman had just arrived in the outer court of the palace to ask the king to impale Mordecai on the pole he had prepared.
5So the attendants replied to the king, 'Haman is out in the court.' 'Bring him in,' the king ordered.
6So Haman came in, and the king said, 'What should I do to honor a man who truly pleases me?' Haman thought to himself, 'Whom would the king wish to honor more than me?' 7So he replied, 'If the king wishes to honor someone, 8he should bring out one of the king’s own royal robes, as well as a horse that the king himself has ridden — one with a royal emblem on its head. 9Let the robes and the horse be handed over to one of the king’s most noble officials. And let him see that the man whom the king wishes to honor is dressed in the king’s robes and led through the city square on the king’s horse. Have the official shout as they go, ‘This is what the king does for someone he wishes to honor!’'
10Excellent!' the king said to Haman. 'Quick! Take the robes and my horse, and do just as you have said for Mordecai the Jew, who sits at the gate of the palace. Leave out nothing you have suggested!'
11So Haman took the robes and put them on Mordecai, placed him on the king’s own horse, and led him through the city square, shouting, 'This is what the king does for someone he wishes to honor!' 12Afterward Mordecai returned to the palace gate, but Haman hurried home dejected and completely humiliated.

10"Go at once," the king commanded Haman. "Get the robe and the horse and do just as you have suggested for Mordecai the Jew, who sits at the king’s gate. Do not neglect anything you have recommended."
11So Haman got the robe and the horse. He robed Mordecai, and led him on horseback through the city streets, proclaiming before him, "This is what is done for the man the king delights to honor!"
12Afterward Mordecai returned to the king’s gate. But Haman rushed home, with his head covered in grief,

12Afterward Mordecai went back to the king’s gate. But Haman hurried to his house, mourning and with his head covered.
