Chapter 4

11The water you drink shall be a sixth of a hin by measure; you shall drink it from time to time. 12You shall eat it as a barley cake, having baked it in their sight over human dung.' 13Then the Lord said, 'In this way the sons of Israel will eat their bread unclean among the nations where I will scatter them.' 14But I said, 'Oh, Lord God! Behold, I have never been defiled; for from my youth until now I have never eaten what died of itself or was torn by animals, nor has any unclean meat ever entered my mouth!' 15Then He said to me, 'See, I will give you cow’s dung in place of human dung, so that you may prepare your bread over it.'

11Thou shalt drink also water by measure, the sixth part of an hin: from time to time shalt thou drink. 12And thou shalt eat it as barley cakes, and thou shalt bake it with dung that cometh out of man, in their sight. 13And the Lord said, Even thus shall the children of Israel eat their defiled bread among the Gentiles, whither I will drive them.
14Then said I, Ah Lord God! behold, my soul hath not been polluted: for from my youth up even till now have I not eaten of that which dieth of itself, or is torn in pieces; neither came there abominable flesh into my mouth.
15Then he said unto me, Lo, I have given thee cow's dung for man's dung, and thou shalt prepare thy bread therewith.

11You will also drink a ration of water, a sixth of a gallon, which you will drink at set times. 12You will eat it as you would a barley cake and bake it over dried human excrement in their sight." 13The Lord said, "This is how the Israelites will eat their bread—ceremonially unclean—among the nations where I will banish them."
14But I said, "Oh, Lord God, I have never been defiled. From my youth until now I have not eaten anything that died naturally or was mauled by wild beasts. And impure meat has never entered my mouth."
15He replied to me, "Look, I will let you use cow dung instead of human excrement, and you can make your bread over that."

Chapter 4

11Then measure out a jar of water for each day, and drink it at set times. 12Prepare and eat this food as you would barley cakes. While all the people are watching, bake it over a fire using dried human dung as fuel and then eat the bread.' 13Then the Lord said, 'This is how Israel will eat defiled bread in the Gentile lands to which I will banish them!'
14Then I said, 'O Sovereign Lord, must I be defiled by using human dung? For I have never been defiled before. From the time I was a child until now I have never eaten any animal that died of sickness or was killed by other animals. I have never eaten any meat forbidden by the law.'
15All right,' the Lord said. 'You may bake your bread with cow dung instead of human dung.'

14Then I said, "Not so, Sovereign Lord! I have never defiled myself. From my youth until now I have never eaten anything found dead or torn by wild animals. No impure meat has ever entered my mouth."
