Galatians 5:5-13
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 5
5For we, through the Spirit, by faith, are waiting for the hope of righteousness. 6For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything, but faith working through love.
7You were running well; who hindered you from obeying the truth?
8This persuasion did not come from Him who calls you.
9A little leaven leavens the whole lump of dough.
10I have confidence in you in the Lord, that you will adopt no other view; but the one who is disturbing you will bear the punishment, whoever he is.
11But as for me, brothers and sisters, if I still preach circumcision, why am I still persecuted? Then the stumbling block of the cross has been eliminated.
12I wish that those who are troubling you would even emasculate themselves.
King James Version
Chapter 5
5For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. 6For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.
8This persuasion cometh not of him that calleth you.
9A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.
10I have confidence in you through the Lord, that ye will be none otherwise minded: but he that troubleth you shall bear his judgment, whosoever he be.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 5
5For we eagerly await through the Spirit, by faith, the hope of righteousness. 6For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision accomplishes anything; what matters is faith working through love.
7You were running well. Who prevented you from being persuaded regarding the truth?
8This persuasion does not come from the one who calls you.
9A little leaven leavens the whole batch of dough.
10I myself am persuaded in the Lord you will not accept any other view. But whoever it is that is confusing you will pay the penalty.
11Now brothers and sisters, if I still preach circumcision, why am I still persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been abolished.
12I wish those who are disturbing you might also let themselves be mutilated!
New Living Translation
Chapter 5
5But we who live by the Spirit eagerly wait to receive by faith the righteousness God has promised to us. 6For when we place our faith in Christ Jesus, there is no benefit in being circumcised or being uncircumcised. What is important is faith expressing itself in love.
7You were running the race so well. Who has held you back from following the truth?
8It certainly isn’t God, for he is the one who called you to freedom.
9This false teaching is like a little yeast that spreads through the whole batch of dough!
10I am trusting the Lord to keep you from believing false teachings. God will judge that person, whoever he is, who has been confusing you.
11Dear brothers and sisters, if I were still preaching that you must be circumcised — as some say I do — why am I still being persecuted? If I were no longer preaching salvation through the cross of Christ, no one would be offended.
12I just wish that those troublemakers who want to mutilate you by circumcision would mutilate themselves.
English Standard Version
Chapter 5
5For through the Spirit, by faith, we ourselves eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness. 6For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith working through love.
7You were running well. Who hindered you from obeying the truth?
8This persuasion is not from him who calls you.
9A little leaven leavens the whole lump.
10I have confidence in the Lord that you will take no other view, and the one who is troubling you will bear the penalty, whoever he is.
11But if I, brothers, still preach circumcision, why am I still being persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been removed.
12I wish those who unsettle you would emasculate themselves!
New International Version
Chapter 5
5For through the Spirit we eagerly await by faith the righteousness for which we hope. 6For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.
7You were running a good race. Who cut in on you to keep you from obeying the truth?
8That kind of persuasion does not come from the one who calls you.
9"A little yeast works through the whole batch of dough."
10I am confident in the Lord that you will take no other view. The one who is throwing you into confusion, whoever that may be, will have to pay the penalty.
11Brothers and sisters, if I am still preaching circumcision, why am I still being persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been abolished.
12As for those agitators, I wish they would go the whole way and emasculate themselves!
New King James Version
Chapter 5
5For we through the Spirit eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. 6For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love.
7You ran well. Who hindered you from obeying the truth?
8This persuasion does not come from Him who calls you.
9A little leaven leavens the whole lump.
10I have confidence in you, in the Lord, that you will have no other mind; but he who troubles you shall bear his judgment, whoever he is.
