Genesis 28:14-21
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 28
14Your descendants will also be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west and to the east, and to the north and to the south; and in you and in your descendants shall all the families of the earth be blessed. 15Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.' 16Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, 'The Lord is certainly in this place, and I did not know it!' 17And he was afraid and said, 'How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven!'
18So Jacob got up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had placed as a support for his head, and set it up as a memorial stone, and poured oil on its top.
19Then he named that place Bethel; but previously the name of the city had been Luz.
20Jacob also made a vow, saying, 'If God will be with me and will keep me on this journey that I take, and give me food to eat and garments to wear,
21and I return to my father’s house in safety, then the Lord will be my God.

Chapter 28
14And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed. 15And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of.
16And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the Lord is in this place; and I knew it not.
17And he was afraid, and said, How dreadful is this place! this is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.
18And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put for his pillows, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil upon the top of it.
19And he called the name of that place Bethel: but the name of that city was called Luz at the first.
20And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on,
21So that I come again to my father's house in peace; then shall the Lord be my God:

Chapter 28
14Your offspring will be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out toward the west, the east, the north, and the south. All the peoples on earth will be blessed through you and your offspring. 15Look, I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go. I will bring you back to this land, for I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you."
16When Jacob awoke from his sleep, he said, "Surely the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it."
17He was afraid and said, "What an awesome place this is! This is none other than the house of God. This is the gate of heaven."
18Early in the morning Jacob took the stone that was near his head and set it up as a marker. He poured oil on top of it
19and named the place Bethel, though previously the city was named Luz.
20Then Jacob made a vow: "If God will be with me and watch over me during this journey I’m making, if he provides me with food to eat and clothing to wear,
21and if I return safely to my father’s family, then the Lord will be my God.
New Living Translation
Chapter 28
14Your descendants will be as numerous as the dust of the earth! They will spread out in all directions — to the west and the east, to the north and the south. And all the families of the earth will be blessed through you and your descendants. 15What’s more, I am with you, and I will protect you wherever you go. One day I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have finished giving you everything I have promised you.'
16Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, 'Surely the Lord is in this place, and I wasn’t even aware of it!'
17But he was also afraid and said, 'What an awesome place this is! It is none other than the house of God, the very gateway to heaven!'
