Genesis 39:7-16
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 39
7And it came about after these events that his master’s wife had her eyes on Joseph, and she said, 'Sleep with me.' 8But he refused and said to his master’s wife, 'Look, with me here, my master does not concern himself with anything in the house, and he has put me in charge of all that he owns. 9There is no one greater in this house than I, and he has withheld nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How then could I do this great evil, and sin against God?' 10Though she spoke to Joseph day after day, he did not listen to her to lie beside her or be with her. 11Now it happened one day that he went into the house to do his work, and none of the people of the household was there inside. 12So she grabbed him by his garment, saying, 'Sleep with me!' But he left his garment in her hand and fled, and went outside. 13When she saw that he had left his garment in her hand and had fled outside, 14she called to the men of her household and said to them, 'See, he has brought in a Hebrew to us to make fun of us; he came in to me to sleep with me, and I screamed. 15When he heard that I raised my voice and screamed, he left his garment beside me and fled and went outside.' 16So she left his garment beside her until his master came home.King James Version
Chapter 39
7And it came to pass after these things, that his master's wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said, Lie with me. 8But he refused, and said unto his master's wife, Behold, my master wotteth not what is with me in the house, and he hath committed all that he hath to my hand; 9There is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God? 10And it came to pass, as she spake to Joseph day by day, that he hearkened not unto her, to lie by her, or to be with her.
11And it came to pass about this time, that Joseph went into the house to do his business; and there was none of the men of the house there within.
12And she caught him by his garment, saying, Lie with me: and he left his garment in her hand, and fled, and got him out.
13And it came to pass, when she saw that he had left his garment in her hand, and was fled forth,
14That she called unto the men of her house, and spake unto them, saying, See, he hath brought in an Hebrew unto us to mock us; he came in unto me to lie with me, and I cried with a loud voice:
15And it came to pass, when he heard that I lifted up my voice and cried, that he left his garment with me, and fled, and got him out.

8But he refused. "Look," he said to his master’s wife, "with me here my master does not concern himself with anything in his house, and he has put all that he owns under my authority.
9No one in this house is greater than I am. He has withheld nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. So how could I do this immense evil, and how could I sin against God?"
10Although she spoke to Joseph day after day, he refused to go to bed with her.
11Now one day he went into the house to do his work, and none of the household servants were there.
12She grabbed him by his garment and said, "Sleep with me!" But leaving his garment in her hand, he escaped and ran outside.
13When she saw that he had left his garment with her and had run outside,
14she called her household servants. "Look," she said to them, "my husband brought a Hebrew man to make fools of us. He came to me so he could sleep with me, and I screamed as loud as I could.
15When he heard me screaming for help, he left his garment beside me and ran outside."

Chapter 39
7and Potiphar’s wife soon began to look at him lustfully. 'Come and sleep with me,' she demanded.
8But Joseph refused. 'Look,' he told her, 'my master trusts me with everything in his entire household.
9No one here has more authority than I do. He has held back nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How could I do such a wicked thing? It would be a great sin against God.'
10She kept putting pressure on Joseph day after day, but he refused to sleep with her, and he kept out of her way as much as possible.
11One day, however, no one else was around when he went in to do his work.
12She came and grabbed him by his cloak, demanding, 'Come on, sleep with me!' Joseph tore himself away, but he left his cloak in her hand as he ran from the house.
13When she saw that she was holding his cloak and he had fled,
14she called out to her servants. Soon all the men came running. 'Look!' she said. 'My husband has brought this Hebrew slave here to make fools of us! He came into my room to rape me, but I screamed.
15When he heard me scream, he ran outside and got away, but he left his cloak behind with me.'

7And after a time his master 's wife cast her eyes on Joseph and said, "Lie with me." 8But he refused and said to his master 's wife, "Behold, because of me my master has no concern about anything in the house, and he has put everything that he has in my charge. 9He is not greater in this house than I am, nor has he kept back anything from me except you, because you are his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness and sin against God?" 10And as she spoke to Joseph day after day, he would not listen to her, to lie beside her or to be with her.

13And as soon as she saw that he had left his garment in her hand and had fled out of the house,
14she called to the men of her household and said to them, "See, he has brought among us a Hebrew to laugh at us. He came in to me to lie with me, and I cried out with a loud voice.
15And as soon as he heard that I lifted up my voice and cried out, he left his garment beside me and fled and got out of the house."
16Then she laid up his garment by her until his master came home,

Chapter 39
7and after a while his master’s wife took notice of Joseph and said, "Come to bed with me!"
8But he refused. "With me in charge," he told her, "my master does not concern himself with anything in the house; everything he owns he has entrusted to my care.
9No one is greater in this house than I am. My master has withheld nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How then could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?"
10And though she spoke to Joseph day after day, he refused to go to bed with her or even be with her.
11One day he went into the house to attend to his duties, and none of the household servants was inside.
12She caught him by his cloak and said, "Come to bed with me!" But he left his cloak in her hand and ran out of the house.
13When she saw that he had left his cloak in her hand and had run out of the house,
14she called her household servants. "Look," she said to them, "this Hebrew has been brought to us to make sport of us! He came in here to sleep with me, but I screamed.
15When he heard me scream for help, he left his cloak beside me and ran out of the house."
