Isaiah 51:12-16
New American Standard Bible
14The exile will soon be set free, and will not die in the dungeon, nor will his bread be lacking.
15For I am the Lord your God, who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar (the Lord of armies is His name).
16And I have put My words in your mouth and have covered you with the shadow of My hand, to establish the heavens, to found the earth, and to say to Zion, ‘You are My people.’?'
King James Version
15But I am the Lord thy God, that divided the sea, whose waves roared: The Lord of hosts is his name.
16And I have put my words in thy mouth, and I have covered thee in the shadow of mine hand, that I may plant the heavens, and lay the foundations of the earth, and say unto Zion, Thou art my people.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 51
12I—I am the one who comforts you. Who are you that you should fear humans who die, or a son of man who is given up like grass? 13But you have forgotten the Lord, your Maker, who stretched out the heavens and laid the foundations of the earth. You are in constant dread all day long because of the fury of the oppressor, who has set himself to destroy. But where is the fury of the oppressor? 14The prisoner is soon to be set free; he will not die and go to the Pit, and his food will not be lacking. 15For I am the Lord your God who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar — his name is the Lord of Armies.New Living Translation
Chapter 51
12'I, yes I, am the one who comforts you. So why are you afraid of mere humans, who wither like the grass and disappear? 13Yet you have forgotten the Lord, your Creator, the one who stretched out the sky like a canopy and laid the foundations of the earth. Will you remain in constant dread of human oppressors? Will you continue to fear the anger of your enemies? Where is their fury and anger now? It is gone! 14Soon all you captives will be released! Imprisonment, starvation, and death will not be your fate! 15For I am the Lord your God, who stirs up the sea, causing its waves to roar. My name is the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. 16And I have put my words in your mouth and hidden you safely in my hand. I stretched out the sky like a canopy and laid the foundations of the earth. I am the one who says to Israel, ‘You are my people!’'English Standard Version
Chapter 51
12"I, I am he who comforts you; who are you that you are afraid of man who dies, of the son of man who is made like grass, 13and have forgotten the Lord, your Maker, who stretched out the heavens and laid the foundations of the earth, and you fear continually all the day because of the wrath of the oppressor, when he sets himself to destroy? And where is the wrath of the oppressor? 14 He who is bowed down shall speedily be released; he shall not die and go down to the pit, neither shall his bread be lacking. 15I am the Lord your God, who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar — the Lord of hosts is his name. 16 And I have put my words in your mouth and covered you in the shadow of my hand, establishing the heavens and laying the foundations of the earth, and saying to Zion, ‘You are my people.’"New International Version
Chapter 51
12"I, even I, am he who comforts you. Who are you that you fear mere mortals, human beings who are but grass, 13that you forget the Lord your Maker, who stretches out the heavens and who lays the foundations of the earth, that you live in constant terror every day because of the wrath of the oppressor, who is bent on destruction? For where is the wrath of the oppressor? 14The cowering prisoners will soon be set free; they will not die in their dungeon, nor will they lack bread. 15For I am the Lord your God, who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar— the Lord Almighty is his name. 16I have put my words in your mouth and covered you with the shadow of my hand— I who set the heavens in place, who laid the foundations of the earth, and who say to Zion, ‘You are my people.’ "New King James Version
