Chapter 31

28And just as I have watched over them to uproot them, tear them down, ruin, destroy, and bring disaster on them, so I will watch over them to build and to plant them,' declares the Lord.
29'In those days they will no longer say, ‘The fathers have eaten sour grapes, But it is the children’s teeth that have become blunt.’
30But everyone will die for his own wrongdoing; each person who eats the sour grapes, his own teeth will become blunt.
31Behold, days are coming,' declares the Lord, 'when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah,

28And it shall come to pass, that like as I have watched over them, to pluck up, and to break down, and to throw down, and to destroy, and to afflict; so will I watch over them, to build, and to plant, saith the Lord. 29In those days they shall say no more, The fathers have eaten a sour grape, and the children's teeth are set on edge. 30But every one shall die for his own iniquity: every man that eateth the sour grape, his teeth shall be set on edge.
31Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:

28Just as I watched over them to uproot and to tear them down, to demolish and to destroy, and to cause disaster, so will I watch over them to build and to plant them" —this is the Lord’s declaration.
29"In those days, it will never again be said, ‘The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set on edge.’
30Rather, each will die for his own iniquity. Anyone who eats sour grapes—his own teeth will be set on edge.
31"Look, the days are coming" —this is the Lord’s declaration—"when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah.

Chapter 31

28In the past I deliberately uprooted and tore down this nation. I overthrew it, destroyed it, and brought disaster upon it. But in the future I will just as deliberately plant it and build it up. I, the Lord, have spoken!
29The people will no longer quote this proverb: ‘The parents have eaten sour grapes, but their children’s mouths pucker at the taste.’
30All people will die for their own sins — those who eat the sour grapes will be the ones whose mouths will pucker.
31The day is coming,' says the Lord, 'when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and Judah.
