Jeremiah 50:17-23

Chapter 50
17Israel is a scattered flock, the lions have driven them away. The first one who devoured him was the king of Assyria, and this last one who has gnawed his bones is Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon. 18Therefore this is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel says: ‘Behold, I am going to punish the king of Babylon and his land, just as I punished the king of Assyria. 19And I will bring Israel back to his pasture and he will graze on Carmel and Bashan, and his desire will be satisfied in the hill country of Ephraim and Gilead. 20In those days and at that time,’ declares the Lord, ‘search will be made for the wrongdoing of Israel, but there will be none; and for the sins of Judah, but they will not be found; for I will forgive those whom I leave as a remnant.’
21'Against the land of Merathaim, go up against it, And against the inhabitants of Pekod. Kill and completely destroy them,' declares the Lord, 'And do according to everything that I have commanded you.
22The noise of battle is in the land, And great destruction.
23How the hammer of the whole earth Has been cut off and broken! How Babylon has become An object of horror among the nations!

21Attack the land of Merathaim, and those living in Pekod. Put them to the sword; completely destroy them— this is the Lord’s declaration— do everything I have commanded you.
22The sound of war is in the land — a crushing blow!
23How the hammer of the whole earth is cut down and smashed! What a horror Babylon has become among the nations!

Chapter 50
17'The Israelites are like sheep that have been scattered by lions. First the king of Assyria ate them up. Then King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon cracked their bones.' 18Therefore, this is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, the God of Israel, says: 'Now I will punish the king of Babylon and his land, just as I punished the king of Assyria. 19And I will bring Israel home again to its own land, to feed in the fields of Carmel and Bashan, and to be satisfied once more in the hill country of Ephraim and Gilead. 20In those days,' says the Lord, 'no sin will be found in Israel or in Judah, for I will forgive the remnant I preserve.
21'Go up, my warriors, against the land of Merathaim and against the people of Pekod. Pursue, kill, and completely destroy them, as I have commanded you,' says the Lord.
22'Let the battle cry be heard in the land, a shout of great destruction.
23Babylon, the mightiest hammer in all the earth, lies broken and shattered. Babylon is desolate among the nations!

17"Israel is a hunted sheep driven away by lions. First the king of Assyria devoured him, and now at last Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon has gnawed his bones. 18Therefore, thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I am bringing punishment on the king of Babylon and his land, as I punished the king of Assyria. 19I will restore Israel to his pasture, and he shall feed on Carmel and in Bashan, and his desire shall be satisfied on the hills of Ephraim and in Gilead. 20In those days and in that time, declares the Lord, iniquity shall be sought in Israel, and there shall be none, and sin in Judah, and none shall be found, for I will pardon those whom I leave as a remnant.
21"Go up against the land of Merathaim, and against the inhabitants of Pekod. Kill, and devote them to destruction, declares the Lord, and do all that I have commanded you.
22 The noise of battle is in the land, and great destruction!

18Therefore this is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: "I will punish the king of Babylon and his land as I punished the king of Assyria.
19But I will bring Israel back to their own pasture, and they will graze on Carmel and Bashan; their appetite will be satisfied on the hills of Ephraim and Gilead.
20In those days, at that time," declares the Lord, "search will be made for Israel’s guilt, but there will be none, and for the sins of Judah, but none will be found, for I will forgive the remnant I spare.
21"Attack the land of Merathaim and those who live in Pekod. Pursue, kill and completely destroy them," declares the Lord. "Do everything I have commanded you.
22The noise of battle is in the land, the noise of great destruction!
23How broken and shattered is the hammer of the whole earth! How desolate is Babylon among the nations!
