Chapter 18

3Why are we regarded as animals, As stupid in your eyes? 4 You who tear yourself in your anger— Should the earth be abandoned for your sake, Or the rock moved from its place? 5'Indeed, the light of the wicked goes out, And the spark from his fire does not shine.

3Wherefore are we counted as beasts, and reputed vile in your sight?
4He teareth himself in his anger: shall the earth be forsaken for thee? and shall the rock be removed out of his place?
5Yea, the light of the wicked shall be put out, and the spark of his fire shall not shine.

4You who tear yourself in anger — should the earth be abandoned on your account, or a rock be removed from its place? 5Yes, the light of the wicked is extinguished; the flame of his fire does not glow.

3Do you think we are mere animals? Do you think we are stupid? 4You may tear out your hair in anger, but will that destroy the earth? Will it make the rocks tremble?
