Job 19:28-29
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 19
28
If you say, ‘How shall we persecute him?’
And ‘ What pretext for a case against him can we find?’
29
Then
be afraid of the sword for yourselves,
For wrath
brings
the punishment of the sword,
So that you may know there is judgment.'
King James Version
Chapter 19
28
But ye should say, Why persecute we him, seeing the root of the matter is found in me?
29
Be ye afraid of the sword: for wrath bringeth the punishments of the sword, that ye may know there is a judgment.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 19
28
If you say, "How will we pursue him,
since the root of the problem lies with him?"
29
then be afraid of the sword,
because wrath brings punishment by the sword,
so that you may know there is a judgment.
New Living Translation
Chapter 19
28
'How dare you go on persecuting me,
saying, ‘It’s his own fault’?
29
You should fear punishment yourselves,
for your attitude deserves punishment.
Then you will know that there is indeed a judgment.'
English Standard Version
Chapter 19
28
If you say, ‘How we will pursue him!’
and, ‘The root of the matter is found in him,’
29
be afraid of the sword,
for wrath brings the punishment of the sword,
that you may know there is a judgment."
New International Version
Chapter 19
28
"If you say, ‘How we will hound him,
since the root of the trouble lies in him, ’
29
you should fear the sword yourselves;
for wrath will bring punishment by the sword,
and then you will know that there is judgment. "
New King James Version
Chapter 19
28
If you should say, ‘How shall we persecute him?’—
Since the root of the matter is found in me,
29
Be afraid of the sword for yourselves;
For wrath
brings
the punishment of the sword,
That you may know
there is
a judgment.”
