Job 5:1-6
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 5
1'Call now, is there anyone who will answer you? And to which of the holy ones will you turn? 2For irritation kills the fool, And jealousy brings death to the simple. 3I have seen the fool taking root, And I cursed his home immediately. 4His sons are far from safety, They are also oppressed at the gate, And there is no one to save them. 5 The hungry devour his harvest And take it to a place of thorns, And the schemer is eager for their wealth. 6For disaster does not come from the dust, Nor does trouble sprout from the ground,King James Version
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 5
1Call out! Will anyone answer you? Which of the holy ones will you turn to? 2For anger kills a fool, and jealousy slays the gullible. 3I have seen a fool taking root, but I immediately pronounced a curse on his home. 4His children are far from safety. They are crushed at the city gate, with no one to rescue them. 5The hungry consume his harvest, even taking it out of the thorns. The thirsty pant for his children’s wealth. 6For distress does not grow out of the soil, and trouble does not sprout from the ground.New Living Translation
Chapter 5
1'Cry for help, but will anyone answer you? Which of the angels will help you? 2Surely resentment destroys the fool, and jealousy kills the simple. 3I have seen that fools may be successful for the moment, but then comes sudden disaster. 4Their children are abandoned far from help; they are crushed in court with no one to defend them. 5The hungry devour their harvest, even when it is guarded by brambles. The thirsty pant after their wealth. 6But evil does not spring from the soil, and trouble does not sprout from the earth.English Standard Version

1"Call if you will, but who will answer you? To which of the holy ones will you turn? 2Resentment kills a fool, and envy slays the simple. 3I myself have seen a fool taking root, but suddenly his house was cursed. 4His children are far from safety, crushed in court without a defender. 5The hungry consume his harvest, taking it even from among thorns, and the thirsty pant after his wealth. 6For hardship does not spring from the soil, nor does trouble sprout from the ground.New King James Version
