John 10:13-22

Chapter 10

13He flees because he is a hired hand and does not care about the sheep. 14I am the good shepherd, and I know My own, and My own know Me, 15just as the Father knows Me and I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep. 16And I have other sheep that are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they will listen to My voice; and they will become one flock, with one shepherd. 17For this reason the Father loves Me, because I lay down My life so that I may take it back. 18No one has taken it away from Me, but I lay it down on My own. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it back. This commandment I received from My Father.'
19Dissension occurred again among the Jews because of these words. 20Many of them were saying, 'He has a demon and is insane. Why do you listen to Him?' 21Others were saying, 'These are not the words of one who is demon-possessed. A demon cannot open the eyes of those who are blind, can it?'
22At that time the Feast of the Dedication took place in Jerusalem;

13The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep. 14I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. 15As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep. 16And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd. 17Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. 18No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.
19There was a division therefore again among the Jews for these sayings. 20And many of them said, He hath a devil, and is mad; why hear ye him? 21Others said, These are not the words of him that hath a devil. Can a devil open the eyes of the blind?
22And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the dedication, and it was winter.

19Again the Jews were divided because of these words. 20Many of them were saying, "He has a demon and he’s crazy. Why do you listen to him?" 21Others were saying, "These aren’t the words of someone who is demon-possessed. Can a demon open the eyes of the blind?"
22Then the Festival of Dedication took place in Jerusalem, and it was winter.

Chapter 10

13The hired hand runs away because he’s working only for the money and doesn’t really care about the sheep.
14I am the good shepherd; I know my own sheep, and they know me, 15just as my Father knows me and I know the Father. So I sacrifice my life for the sheep. 16I have other sheep, too, that are not in this sheepfold. I must bring them also. They will listen to my voice, and there will be one flock with one shepherd.
17The Father loves me because I sacrifice my life so I may take it back again. 18No one can take my life from me. I sacrifice it voluntarily. For I have the authority to lay it down when I want to and also to take it up again. For this is what my Father has commanded.'
19When he said these things, the people were again divided in their opinions about him. 20Some said, 'He’s demon possessed and out of his mind. Why listen to a man like that?' 21Others said, 'This doesn’t sound like a man possessed by a demon! Can a demon open the eyes of the blind?'
22It was now winter, and Jesus was in Jerusalem at the time of Hanukkah, the Festival of Dedication.
