Chapter 11

11This He said, and after this He *said to them, 'Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep; but I am going so that I may awaken him from sleep.' 12The disciples then said to Him, 'Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will come out of it.' 13Now Jesus had spoken of his death, but they thought that He was speaking about actual sleep.

12Then the disciples said to him, "Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will get well."
13Jesus, however, was speaking about his death, but they thought he was speaking about natural sleep.

12The disciples said, 'Lord, if he is sleeping, he will soon get better!' 13They thought Jesus meant Lazarus was simply sleeping, but Jesus meant Lazarus had died.
