John 13:15-21
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 13
15For I gave you an example, so that you also would do just as I did for you. 16Truly, truly I say to you, a slave is not greater than his master, nor is one who is sent greater than the one who sent him. 17If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them. 18I am not speaking about all of you. I know the ones whom I have chosen; but this is happening so that the Scripture may be fulfilled, ‘HE WHO EATS MY BREAD HAS LIFTED UP HIS HEEL AGAINST ME.’ 19From now on I am telling you before it happens, so that when it does happen, you may believe that I am He. 20Truly, truly I say to you, the one who receives anyone I send, receives Me; and the one who receives Me receives Him who sent Me.'King James Version
Chapter 13
15For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you. 16Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him. 17If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them. 18I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me hath lifted up his heel against me. 19Now I tell you before it come, that, when it is come to pass, ye may believe that I am he. 20Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.Christian Standard Bible
16"Truly I tell you, a servant is not greater than his master, and a messenger is not greater than the one who sent him.
17If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them.
18"I’m not speaking about all of you; I know those I have chosen. But the Scripture must be fulfilled: The one who eats my bread has raised his heel against me.
19I am telling you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe that I am he.
20Truly I tell you, whoever receives anyone I send receives me, and the one who receives me receives him who sent me."
New Living Translation
Chapter 13
15I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you. 16I tell you the truth, slaves are not greater than their master. Nor is the messenger more important than the one who sends the message. 17Now that you know these things, God will bless you for doing them.
18I am not saying these things to all of you; I know the ones I have chosen. But this fulfills the Scripture that says, ‘The one who eats my food has turned against me.’
19I tell you this beforehand, so that when it happens you will believe that I AM the Messiah.
20I tell you the truth, anyone who welcomes my messenger is welcoming me, and anyone who welcomes me is welcoming the Father who sent me.'
