Chapter 13

9Simon Peter *said to Him, 'Lord, then wash not only my feet, but also my hands and my head!' 10Jesus *said to him, 'He who has bathed needs only to wash his feet; otherwise he is completely clean. And you are clean—but not all of you.' 11For He knew the one who was betraying Him; it was for this reason that He said, 'Not all of you are clean.'
12Then, when He had washed their feet, and taken His garments and reclined at the table again, He said to them, 'Do you know what I have done for you? 13You call Me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord’; and you are correct, for so I am.

9Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head. 10Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all. 11For he knew who should betray him; therefore said he, Ye are not all clean.
12So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you 13Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.

9Simon Peter said to him, "Lord, not only my feet, but also my hands and my head."
10"One who has bathed," Jesus told him, "doesn’t need to wash anything except his feet, but he is completely clean. You are clean, but not all of you." 11For he knew who would betray him. This is why he said, "Not all of you are clean."
12When Jesus had washed their feet and put on his outer clothing, he reclined again and said to them, "Do you know what I have done for you? 13You call me Teacher and Lord—and you are speaking rightly, since that is what I am.

9Simon Peter exclaimed, 'Then wash my hands and head as well, Lord, not just my feet!'
10Jesus replied, 'A person who has bathed all over does not need to wash, except for the feet, to be entirely clean. And you disciples are clean, but not all of you.' 11For Jesus knew who would betray him. That is what he meant when he said, 'Not all of you are clean.'
12After washing their feet, he put on his robe again and sat down and asked, 'Do you understand what I was doing? 13You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and you are right, because that’s what I am.
