John 16:8-18
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 16
8And He, when He comes, will convict the world regarding sin, and righteousness, and judgment: 9regarding sin, because they do not believe in Me; 10and regarding righteousness, because I am going to the Father and you no longer are going to see Me; 11and regarding judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged.
12I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them at the present time.
13But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.
14He will glorify Me, for He will take from Mine and will disclose it to you.
15All things that the Father has are Mine; this is why I said that He takes from Mine and will disclose it to you.
16A little while, and you no longer are going to see Me; and again a little while, and you will see Me.'
17So some of His disciples said to one another, 'What is this that He is telling us, ‘A little while, and you are not going to see Me; and again a little while, and you will see Me’; and, ‘because I am going to the Father’?'
18So they were saying, 'What is this that He says, ‘A little while’? We do not know what He is talking about.'
King James Version
Chapter 16
8And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9Of sin, because they believe not on me; 10Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; 11Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
12I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.
13Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
14He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
15All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
16A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father.
17Then said some of his disciples among themselves, What is this that he saith unto us, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me: and, Because I go to the Father
18They said therefore, What is this that he saith, A little while we cannot tell what he saith.

Chapter 16
8When he comes, he will convict the world about sin, righteousness, and judgment: 9About sin, because they do not believe in me; 10about righteousness, because I am going to the Father and you will no longer see me; 11and about judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged.
12"I still have many things to tell you, but you can’t bear them now.
13When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth. For he will not speak on his own, but he will speak whatever he hears. He will also declare to you what is to come.
14He will glorify me, because he will take from what is mine and declare it to you.
15Everything the Father has is mine. This is why I told you that he takes from what is mine and will declare it to you.
17Then some of his disciples said to one another, "What is this he’s telling us: ‘A little while and you will not see me; again a little while and you will see me’ and, ‘because I am going to the Father’ ?"
18They said, "What is this he is saying, ‘A little while’? We don’t know what he’s talking about."
New Living Translation
Chapter 16
8And when he comes, he will convict the world of its sin, and of God’s righteousness, and of the coming judgment. 9The world’s sin is that it refuses to believe in me. 10Righteousness is available because I go to the Father, and you will see me no more. 11Judgment will come because the ruler of this world has already been judged.
12There is so much more I want to tell you, but you can’t bear it now.
13When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future.
14He will bring me glory by telling you whatever he receives from me.
15All that belongs to the Father is mine; this is why I said, ‘The Spirit will tell you whatever he receives from me.’

12"I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.
13When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.

Chapter 16
8When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment: 9about sin, because people do not believe in me; 10about righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; 11and about judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned.
12"I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear.
13But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.
14He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you.
15All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you."
17At this, some of his disciples said to one another, "What does he mean by saying, ‘In a little while you will see me no more, and then after a little while you will see me,’ and ‘Because I am going to the Father’?"
18They kept asking, "What does he mean by ‘a little while’? We don’t understand what he is saying."
