John 17:1-20
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 17
1Jesus spoke these things; and raising His eyes to heaven, He said, 'Father, the hour has come; glorify Your Son, so that the Son may glorify You, 2just as You gave Him authority over all mankind, so that to all whom You have given Him, He may give eternal life. 3And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. 4I glorified You on the earth by accomplishing the work which You have given Me to do. 5And now You, Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world existed.
6I have revealed Your name to the men whom You gave Me out of the world; they were Yours and You gave them to Me, and they have followed Your word.
7Now they have come to know that everything which You have given Me is from You;
8for the words which You gave Me I have given to them; and they received them and truly understood that I came forth from You, and they believed that You sent Me.
9I ask on their behalf; I do not ask on behalf of the world, but on the behalf of those whom You have given Me, because they are Yours;
10and all things that are Mine are Yours, and Yours are Mine; and I have been glorified in them.
11I am no longer going to be in the world; and yet they themselves are in the world, and I am coming to You. Holy Father, keep them in Your name, the name which You have given Me, so that they may be one just as We are.
12While I was with them, I was keeping them in Your name, which You have given Me; and I guarded them, and not one of them perished except the son of destruction, so that the Scripture would be fulfilled.
13But now I am coming to You; and these things I speak in the world so that they may have My joy made full in themselves.
14I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.
15I am not asking You to take them out of the world, but to keep them away from the evil one.
16They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.
17Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth.
18Just as You sent Me into the world, I also sent them into the world.
19And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, so that they themselves also may be sanctified in truth.
King James Version
Chapter 17
1These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: 2As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him. 3And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. 4I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. 5And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.
6I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.
7Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee.
8For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me.
9I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.
10And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them.
11And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.
12While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.
13And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.
14I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
15I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.
16They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
17Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
18As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.
19And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.

Chapter 17
1Jesus spoke these things, looked up to heaven, and said: "Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son so that the Son may glorify you, 2since you gave him authority over all flesh, so that he may give eternal life to everyone you have given him. 3This is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and the one you have sent —Jesus Christ. 4I have glorified you on the earth by completing the work you gave me to do. 5Now, Father, glorify me in your presence with that glory I had with you before the world existed.
6"I have revealed your name to the people you gave me from the world. They were yours, you gave them to me, and they have kept your word.
7Now they know that everything you have given is from you,
8because I have given them the words you gave me. They have received them and have known for certain that I came from you. They have believed that you sent me.
9"I pray for them. I am not praying for the world but for those you have given me, because they are yours.
10Everything I have is yours, and everything you have is mine, and I am glorified in them.
11I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by your name that you have given me, so that they may be one as we are one.
12While I was with them, I was protecting them by your name that you have given me. I guarded them and not one of them is lost, except the son of destruction, so that the Scripture may be fulfilled.
13Now I am coming to you, and I speak these things in the world so that they may have my joy completed in them.
14I have given them your word. The world hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.
15I am not praying that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one.
16They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.
17Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.
18As you sent me into the world, I also have sent them into the world.
19I sanctify myself for them, so that they also may be sanctified by the truth.
New Living Translation
Chapter 17
1After saying all these things, Jesus looked up to heaven and said, 'Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son so he can give glory back to you. 2For you have given him authority over everyone. He gives eternal life to each one you have given him. 3And this is the way to have eternal life — to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth. 4I brought glory to you here on earth by completing the work you gave me to do. 5Now, Father, bring me into the glory we shared before the world began.
6I have revealed you to the ones you gave me from this world. They were always yours. You gave them to me, and they have kept your word.
7Now they know that everything I have is a gift from you,
8for I have passed on to them the message you gave me. They accepted it and know that I came from you, and they believe you sent me.
9My prayer is not for the world, but for those you have given me, because they belong to you.
10All who are mine belong to you, and you have given them to me, so they bring me glory.
11Now I am departing from the world; they are staying in this world, but I am coming to you. Holy Father, you have given me your name; now protect them by the power of your name so that they will be united just as we are.
12During my time here, I protected them by the power of the name you gave me. I guarded them so that not one was lost, except the one headed for destruction, as the Scriptures foretold.
13Now I am coming to you. I told them many things while I was with them in this world so they would be filled with my joy.
14I have given them your word. And the world hates them because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world.
15I’m not asking you to take them out of the world, but to keep them safe from the evil one.
16They do not belong to this world any more than I do.
17Make them holy by your truth; teach them your word, which is truth.
18Just as you sent me into the world, I am sending them into the world.
19And I give myself as a holy sacrifice for them so they can be made holy by your truth.

Chapter 17
1After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed: "Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. 2For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. 3Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. 4I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do. 5And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.
6"I have revealed you to those whom you gave me out of the world. They were yours; you gave them to me and they have obeyed your word.
7Now they know that everything you have given me comes from you.
8For I gave them the words you gave me and they accepted them. They knew with certainty that I came from you, and they believed that you sent me.
9I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours.
10All I have is yours, and all you have is mine. And glory has come to me through them.
11I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one.
12While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled.
13"I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them.
14I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world.
15My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one.
16They are not of the world, even as I am not of it.
17Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.
18As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world.
19For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified.
