John 3:6-17
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 3
6That which has been born of the flesh is flesh, and that which has been born of the Spirit is spirit. 7Do not be amazed that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ 8The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but you do not know where it is coming from and where it is going; so is everyone who has been born of the Spirit.'
9Nicodemus responded and said to Him, 'How can these things be?'
10Jesus answered and said to him, 'You are the teacher of Israel, and yet you do not understand these things?
11Truly, truly, I say to you, we speak of what we know and testify of what we have seen, and you people do not accept our testimony.
12If I told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things?
13No one has ascended into heaven, except He who descended from heaven: the Son of Man.
14And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up,
15so that everyone who believes will have eternal life in Him.
King James Version
Chapter 3
6That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
8The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
9Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be?
10Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things
11Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness.
12If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?
13And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.
14And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
15That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

Chapter 3
6Whatever is born of the flesh is flesh, and whatever is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7Do not be amazed that I told you that you must be born again. 8The wind blows where it pleases, and you hear its sound, but you don’t know where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit."
10"Are you a teacher of Israel and don’t know these things?" Jesus replied.
11"Truly I tell you, we speak what we know and we testify to what we have seen, but you do not accept our testimony.
12If I have told you about earthly things and you don’t believe, how will you believe if I tell you about heavenly things?
13No one has ascended into heaven except the one who descended from heaven —the Son of Man.
14"Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up,
15so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.
16For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.
17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
New Living Translation
Chapter 3
6Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life. 7So don’t be surprised when I say, ‘You must be born again.’ 8The wind blows wherever it wants. Just as you can hear the wind but can’t tell where it comes from or where it is going, so you can’t explain how people are born of the Spirit.'
10Jesus replied, 'You are a respected Jewish teacher, and yet you don’t understand these things?
11I assure you, we tell you what we know and have seen, and yet you won’t believe our testimony.
12But if you don’t believe me when I tell you about earthly things, how can you possibly believe if I tell you about heavenly things?
13No one has ever gone to heaven and returned. But the Son of Man has come down from heaven.
14And as Moses lifted up the bronze snake on a pole in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up,
15so that everyone who believes in him will have eternal life.

Chapter 3
6That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ 8The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit."
9Nicodemus said to him, "How can these things be?"
10Jesus answered him, "Are you the teacher of Israel and yet you do not understand these things?
11Truly, truly, I say to you, we speak of what we know, and bear witness to what we have seen, but you do not receive our testimony.
12If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how can you believe if I tell you heavenly things?
13No one has ascended into heaven except he who descended from heaven, the Son of Man.

Chapter 3
6Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. 7You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’ 8The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit."
10"You are Israel’s teacher," said Jesus, "and do you not understand these things?
11Very truly I tell you, we speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have seen, but still you people do not accept our testimony.
12I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things?
13No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven—the Son of Man.
14Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up,
15that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him."
