John 7:7-23
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 7
7The world cannot hate you, but it hates Me because I testify about it, that its deeds are evil. 8Go up to the feast yourselves; I am not going up to this feast, because My time has not yet fully arrived.' 9Now having said these things to them, He stayed in Galilee.
10But when His brothers had gone up to the feast, then He Himself also went up, not publicly, but as though in secret.
11So the Jews were looking for Him at the feast and saying, 'Where is He?'
12And there was a great deal of talk about Him in secret among the crowds: some were saying, 'He is a good man'; others were saying, 'No, on the contrary, He is misleading the people.'
13However, no one was speaking openly about Him, for fear of the Jews.
14But when it was now the middle of the feast, Jesus went up into the temple area, and began to teach.
15The Jews then were astonished, saying, 'How has this man become learned, not having been educated?'
16So Jesus answered them and said, 'My teaching is not My own, but His who sent Me.
17If anyone is willing to do His will, he will know about the teaching, whether it is of God, or I am speaking from Myself.
18The one who speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but He who is seeking the glory of the One who sent Him, He is true, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.
19Did Moses not give you the Law, and yet none of you carries out the Law? Why are you seeking to kill Me?'
20The crowd answered, 'You have a demon! Who is seeking to kill You?'
21Jesus answered them, 'I did one deed, and you all are astonished.
22For this reason Moses has given you circumcision (not that it is from Moses, but from the fathers), and even on a Sabbath you circumcise a man.
23If a man receives circumcision on a Sabbath so that the Law of Moses will not be broken, are you angry at Me because I made an entire man well on a Sabbath?

Chapter 7
7The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil. 8Go ye up unto this feast: I go not up yet unto this feast; for my time is not yet full come. 9When he had said these words unto them, he abode still in Galilee.
10But when his brethren were gone up, then went he also up unto the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret.
11Then the Jews sought him at the feast, and said, Where is he?
12And there was much murmuring among the people concerning him: for some said, He is a good man: others said, Nay; but he deceiveth the people.
13Howbeit no man spake openly of him for fear of the Jews.
14Now about the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and taught.
15And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned?
16Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.
17If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.
18He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.
19Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law? Why go ye about to kill me?
20The people answered and said, Thou hast a devil: who goeth about to kill thee?
21Jesus answered and said unto them, I have done one work, and ye all marvel.
22Moses therefore gave unto you circumcision; (not because it is of Moses, but of the fathers;) and ye on the sabbath day circumcise a man.
23If a man on the sabbath day receive circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken; are ye angry at me, because I have made a man every whit whole on the sabbath day?

Chapter 7
7The world cannot hate you, but it does hate me because I testify about it—that its works are evil. 8Go up to the festival yourselves. I’m not going up to this festival, because my time has not yet fully come." 9After he had said these things, he stayed in Galilee.
10After his brothers had gone up to the festival, then he also went up, not openly but secretly.
11The Jews were looking for him at the festival and saying, "Where is he?"
12And there was a lot of murmuring about him among the crowds. Some were saying, "He’s a good man." Others were saying, "No, on the contrary, he’s deceiving the people."
13Still, nobody was talking publicly about him for fear of the Jews.
14When the festival was already half over, Jesus went up into the temple and began to teach.
15Then the Jews were amazed and said, "How is this man so learned, since he hasn’t been trained?"
16Jesus answered them, "My teaching isn’t mine but is from the one who sent me.
17If anyone wants to do his will, he will know whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking on my own.
18The one who speaks on his own seeks his own glory; but he who seeks the glory of the one who sent him is true, and there is no unrighteousness in him.
19Didn’t Moses give you the law? Yet none of you keeps the law. Why are you trying to kill me?"
21"I performed one work, and you are all amazed," Jesus answered.
22"This is why Moses has given you circumcision —not that it comes from Moses but from the fathers —and you circumcise a man on the Sabbath.
23If a man receives circumcision on the Sabbath so that the law of Moses won’t be broken, are you angry at me because I made a man entirely well on the Sabbath?

Chapter 7
7The world can’t hate you, but it does hate me because I accuse it of doing evil. 8You go on. I’m not going to this festival, because my time has not yet come.' 9After saying these things, Jesus remained in Galilee.
10But after his brothers left for the festival, Jesus also went, though secretly, staying out of public view.
11The Jewish leaders tried to find him at the festival and kept asking if anyone had seen him.
12There was a lot of grumbling about him among the crowds. Some argued, 'He’s a good man,' but others said, 'He’s nothing but a fraud who deceives the people.'
13But no one had the courage to speak favorably about him in public, for they were afraid of getting in trouble with the Jewish leaders.
14Then, midway through the festival, Jesus went up to the Temple and began to teach.
15The people were surprised when they heard him. 'How does he know so much when he hasn’t been trained?' they asked.
16So Jesus told them, 'My message is not my own; it comes from God who sent me.
17Anyone who wants to do the will of God will know whether my teaching is from God or is merely my own.
18Those who speak for themselves want glory only for themselves, but a person who seeks to honor the one who sent him speaks truth, not lies.
19Moses gave you the law, but none of you obeys it! In fact, you are trying to kill me.'
21Jesus replied, 'I did one miracle on the Sabbath, and you were amazed.
22But you work on the Sabbath, too, when you obey Moses’ law of circumcision. (Actually, this tradition of circumcision began with the patriarchs, long before the law of Moses.)
23For if the correct time for circumcising your son falls on the Sabbath, you go ahead and do it so as not to break the law of Moses. So why should you be angry with me for healing a man on the Sabbath?

14Not until halfway through the festival did Jesus go up to the temple courts and begin to teach.
15The Jews there were amazed and asked, "How did this man get such learning without having been taught?"
16Jesus answered, "My teaching is not my own. It comes from the one who sent me.
17Anyone who chooses to do the will of God will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own.
18Whoever speaks on their own does so to gain personal glory, but he who seeks the glory of the one who sent him is a man of truth; there is nothing false about him.
19Has not Moses given you the law? Yet not one of you keeps the law. Why are you trying to kill me?"
21Jesus said to them, "I did one miracle, and you are all amazed.
