John 9:1-7
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 9
1
As
Jesus
passed by, He saw a man
who had been
blind from birth.
2
And His disciples asked Him, 'Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he would be born blind?'
3
Jesus answered, '
It was
neither
that
this man sinned, nor his parents; but
it was
so that the works of God might be displayed in him.
4
We must carry out the works of Him who sent Me as long as it is day; night is coming, when no one can work.
5
While I am in the world, I am the Light of the world.'
6
When He had said this, He spit on the ground, and made mud from the saliva, and applied the mud to his eyes,
7
and said to him, 'Go, wash in the pool of Siloam' (which is translated, Sent). So he left and washed, and came
back
seeing.
King James Version
Chapter 9
1
And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.
2
And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
3
Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.
4
I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
5
As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
6
When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,
7
And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.

Chapter 9
1
As he was passing by, he saw a man blind from birth.
2
His disciples asked him: "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?"
3
"Neither this man nor his parents sinned," Jesus answered. "This came about so that God’s works might be displayed in him.
4
We must do the works of him who sent me while it is day. Night is coming when no one can work.
5
As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world."
6
After he said these things he spit on the ground, made some mud from the saliva, and spread the mud on his eyes.
7
"Go," he told him, "wash in the pool of Siloam" (which means "Sent"). So he left, washed, and came back seeing.
New Living Translation
Chapter 9
1
As Jesus was walking along, he saw a man who had been blind from birth.
2
Rabbi,' his disciples asked him, 'why was this man born blind? Was it because of his own sins or his parents’ sins?'
3
It was not because of his sins or his parents’ sins,' Jesus answered. 'This happened so the power of God could be seen in him.
4
We must quickly carry out the tasks assigned us by the one who sent us. The night is coming, and then no one can work.
5
But while I am here in the world, I am the light of the world.'
6
Then he spit on the ground, made mud with the saliva, and spread the mud over the blind man’s eyes.
7
He told him, 'Go wash yourself in the pool of Siloam' (Siloam means 'sent'). So the man went and washed and came back seeing!
