They shall therefore perform
their
duty to Me, so that they do not bear sin because of it and die by it because they profane it; I am the
Lord
who sanctifies them.

‘No layman, however, is to eat the holy
gift;
a foreign resident with the priest or a hired worker shall not eat the holy
gift.

There shall no stranger eat of the holy thing: a sojourner of the priest, or an hired servant, shall not eat of the holy thing.

The priests must follow my instructions carefully. Otherwise they will be punished for their sin and will die for violating my instructions. I am the

who makes them holy.

No one outside a priest’s family may eat the sacred offerings. Even guests and hired workers in a priest’s home are not allowed to eat them.
