Chapter 10
7Stay in that house, eating and drinking what they provide; for the laborer is deserving of his wages. Do not move from house to house. 8Whatever city you enter and they receive you, eat what is served to you; 9and heal those in it who are sick, and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’ 10But whatever city you enter and they do not receive you, go out into its streets and say, 11‘Even the dust of your city which clings to our feet we wipe off in protest against you; yet be sure of this, that the kingdom of God has come near.’ 12I say to you, it will be more tolerable on that day for Sodom than for that city.
13Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that occurred in you had occurred in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.
14But it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the judgment than for you.
15And you, Capernaum, will not be exalted to heaven, will you? You will be brought down to Hades!
17Now the seventy-two returned with joy, saying, 'Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name!'
18And He said to them, 'I watched Satan fall from heaven like lightning.
19Behold, I have given you authority to walk on snakes and scorpions, and authority over all the power of the enemy, and nothing will injure you.
20Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are recorded in heaven.'
21At that very time He rejoiced greatly in the Holy Spirit, and said, 'I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and have revealed them to infants. Yes, Father, for doing so was well pleasing in Your sight.
22All things have been handed over to Me by My Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son determines to reveal Him.'
23Turning to the disciples, He said privately, 'Blessed are the eyes that see the things you see;
24for I tell you that many prophets and kings wanted to see the things that you see, and did not see them, and to hear the things that you hear, and did not hear them.'
25And behold, a lawyer stood up and put Him to the test, saying, 'Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?'
26And He said to him, 'What is written in the Law? How does it read to you?'
27And he answered, 'YOU SHALL LOVE THE Lord YOUR God WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND; AND YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.'
28And He said to him, 'You have answered correctly; do this and you will live.'
29But wanting to justify himself, he said to Jesus, 'And who is my neighbor?'
30Jesus replied and said, 'A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he encountered robbers, and they stripped him and beat him, and went away leaving him half dead.
31And by coincidence a priest was going down on that road, and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.
32Likewise a Levite also, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side.
33But a Samaritan who was on a journey came upon him; and when he saw him, he felt compassion,
34and came to him and bandaged up his wounds, pouring oil and wine on them; and he put him on his own animal, and brought him to an inn and took care of him.
35On the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper and said, ‘Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I return, I will repay you.’
36Which of these three do you think proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell into the robbers’ hands?'
37And he said, 'The one who showed compassion to him.' Then Jesus said to him, 'Go and do the same.'
38Now as they were traveling along, He entered a village; and a woman named Martha welcomed Him into her home.
39And she had a sister called Mary, who was also seated at the Lord’s feet, and was listening to His word.
40But Martha was distracted with all her preparations; and she came up to Him and said, 'Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to do the serving by myself? Then tell her to help me.'
41But the Lord answered and said to her, 'Martha, Martha, you are worried and distracted by many things;
42but only one thing is necessary; for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.'

19Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
20Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.
21In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.
22All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him.
23And he turned him unto his disciples, and said privately, Blessed are the eyes which see the things that ye see:
24For I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.
25And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
26He said unto him, What is written in the law how readest thou
27And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
28And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.
29But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?
30And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.
31And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.
32And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.
33But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,
34And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
35And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.
36Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?
37And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.
38Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.
39And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word.
40But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.
41And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:
42But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

Know this for certain: The kingdom of God has come near.’ 12I tell you, on that day it will be more tolerable for Sodom than for that town.
13"Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.

20However, don’t rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven."
21At that time he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, "I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and revealed them to infants. Yes, Father, because this was your good pleasure.
22All things have been entrusted to me by my Father. No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son desires to reveal him."
23Then turning to his disciples he said privately, "Blessed are the eyes that see the things you see!
24For I tell you that many prophets and kings wanted to see the things you see but didn’t see them; to hear the things you hear but didn’t hear them."
30Jesus took up the question and said: "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho and fell into the hands of robbers. They stripped him, beat him up, and fled, leaving him half dead.
31A priest happened to be going down that road. When he saw him, he passed by on the other side.
32In the same way, a Levite, when he arrived at the place and saw him, passed by on the other side.
33But a Samaritan on his journey came up to him, and when he saw the man, he had compassion.
34He went over to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on olive oil and wine. Then he put him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
35The next day he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said, ‘Take care of him. When I come back I’ll reimburse you for whatever extra you spend.’
38While they were traveling, he entered a village, and a woman named Martha welcomed him into her home.
39She had a sister named Mary, who also sat at the Lord’s feet and was listening to what he said.
40But Martha was distracted by her many tasks, and she came up and asked, "Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to serve alone? So tell her to give me a hand."

8If you enter a town and it welcomes you, eat whatever is set before you.
9Heal the sick, and tell them, ‘The Kingdom of God is near you now.’
10But if a town refuses to welcome you, go out into its streets and say,
11‘We wipe even the dust of your town from our feet to show that we have abandoned you to your fate. And know this — the Kingdom of God is near!’
12I assure you, even wicked Sodom will be better off than such a town on judgment day.
13What sorrow awaits you, Korazin and Bethsaida! For if the miracles I did in you had been done in wicked Tyre and Sidon, their people would have repented of their sins long ago, clothing themselves in burlap and throwing ashes on their heads to show their remorse.
14Yes, Tyre and Sidon will be better off on judgment day than you.
15And you people of Capernaum, will you be honored in heaven? No, you will go down to the place of the dead. '
18Yes,' he told them, 'I saw Satan fall from heaven like lightning!
19Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you.
20But don’t rejoice because evil spirits obey you; rejoice because your names are registered in heaven.'
23Then when they were alone, he turned to the disciples and said, 'Blessed are the eyes that see what you have seen.
24I tell you, many prophets and kings longed to see what you see, but they didn’t see it. And they longed to hear what you hear, but they didn’t hear it.'
31By chance a priest came along. But when he saw the man lying there, he crossed to the other side of the road and passed him by.
32A Temple assistant walked over and looked at him lying there, but he also passed by on the other side.
33Then a despised Samaritan came along, and when he saw the man, he felt compassion for him.
34Going over to him, the Samaritan soothed his wounds with olive oil and wine and bandaged them. Then he put the man on his own donkey and took him to an inn, where he took care of him.
35The next day he handed the innkeeper two silver coins, telling him, ‘Take care of this man. If his bill runs higher than this, I’ll pay you the next time I’m here.’
38As Jesus and the disciples continued on their way to Jerusalem, they came to a certain village where a woman named Martha welcomed him into her home.
39Her sister, Mary, sat at the Lord’s feet, listening to what he taught.
40But Martha was distracted by the big dinner she was preparing. She came to Jesus and said, 'Lord, doesn’t it seem unfair to you that my sister just sits here while I do all the work? Tell her to come and help me.'
