Chapter 11

44Woe to you! For you are like unseen tombs, and the people who walk over them are unaware of it.'
45One of the lawyers *said to Him in reply, 'Teacher, when You say these things, You insult us too.' 46But He said, 'Woe to you lawyers as well! For you load people with burdens that are hard to bear, while you yourselves will not even touch the burdens with one of your fingers. 47Woe to you! For you build the tombs of the prophets, and it was your fathers who killed them. 48So you are witnesses and you approve of the deeds of your fathers; because it was they who killed them, and you build their tombs.

44Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are as graves which appear not, and the men that walk over them are not aware of them.
45Then answered one of the lawyers, and said unto him, Master, thus saying thou reproachest us also. 46And he said, Woe unto you also, ye lawyers! for ye lade men with burdens grievous to be borne, and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers. 47Woe unto you! for ye build the sepulchres of the prophets, and your fathers killed them. 48Truly ye bear witness that ye allow the deeds of your fathers: for they indeed killed them, and ye build their sepulchres.

45One of the experts in the law answered him, "Teacher, when you say these things you insult us too."
46Then he said: "Woe also to you experts in the law! You load people with burdens that are hard to carry, and yet you yourselves don’t touch these burdens with one of your fingers.
47"Woe to you! You build tombs for the prophets, and your fathers killed them. 48Therefore, you are witnesses that you approve the deeds of your fathers, for they killed them, and you build their monuments.

Chapter 11

44Yes, what sorrow awaits you! For you are like hidden graves in a field. People walk over them without knowing the corruption they are stepping on.'
45Teacher,' said an expert in religious law, 'you have insulted us, too, in what you just said.'
46Yes,' said Jesus, 'what sorrow also awaits you experts in religious law! For you crush people with unbearable religious demands, and you never lift a finger to ease the burden. 47What sorrow awaits you! For you build monuments for the prophets your own ancestors killed long ago. 48But in fact, you stand as witnesses who agree with what your ancestors did. They killed the prophets, and you join in their crime by building the monuments!
