Luke 14:15-25
New American Standard Bible
16But He said to him, 'A man was giving a big dinner, and he invited many;
17and at the dinner hour he sent his slave to tell those who had been invited, ‘Come, because everything is ready now.’
18And yet they all alike began to make excuses. The first one said to him, ‘I purchased a field and I need to go out to look at it; please consider me excused.’
19And another one said, ‘I bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to try them out; please consider me excused.’
20And another one said, ‘I took a woman as my wife, and for that reason I cannot come.’
21And the slave came back and reported this to his master. Then the head of the household became angry and said to his slave, ‘Go out at once into the streets and lanes of the city and bring in here those who are poor, those with disabilities, those who are blind, and those who are limping.’
22And later the slave said, ‘Master, what you commanded has been done, and still there is room.’
23And the master said to the slave, ‘Go out into the roads and the hedges and press upon them to come in, so that my house will be filled.
24For I tell you, none of those men who were invited shall taste my dinner.’?'

Chapter 14
15And when one of them that sat at meat with him heard these things, he said unto him, Blessed is he that shall eat bread in the kingdom of God. 16Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and bade many: 17And sent his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready. 18And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused. 19And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused. 20And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come. 21So that servant came, and shewed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind. 22And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room. 23And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. 24For I say unto you, That none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper.Christian Standard Bible
16Then he told him: "A man was giving a large banquet and invited many.
17At the time of the banquet, he sent his servant to tell those who were invited, ‘Come, because everything is now ready.’
New Living Translation
16Jesus replied with this story: 'A man prepared a great feast and sent out many invitations.
17When the banquet was ready, he sent his servant to tell the guests, ‘Come, the banquet is ready.’
18But they all began making excuses. One said, ‘I have just bought a field and must inspect it. Please excuse me.’
19Another said, ‘I have just bought five pairs of oxen, and I want to try them out. Please excuse me.’
20Another said, ‘I just got married, so I can’t come.’
21The servant returned and told his master what they had said. His master was furious and said, ‘Go quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and invite the poor, the crippled, the blind, and the lame.’
22After the servant had done this, he reported, ‘There is still room for more.’
23So his master said, ‘Go out into the country lanes and behind the hedges and urge anyone you find to come, so that the house will be full.
24For none of those I first invited will get even the smallest taste of my banquet.’'
