Luke 14:23-26
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 14
23
And the master said to the slave, ‘Go out into the roads and the hedges and press upon
them
to come in, so that my house will be filled.
24
For I tell you, none of those men who were invited shall taste my dinner.’?'
25
Now large crowds were going along with Him, and He turned and said to them,
26
If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his own father, mother, wife, children, brothers, sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple.
King James Version
Chapter 14
23
And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.
24
For I say unto you, That none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper.
25
And there went great multitudes with him: and he turned, and said unto them,
26
If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
Christian Standard Bible
Chapter 14
23
"Then the master told the servant, ‘Go out into the highways and hedges and make them come in, so that my house may be filled.
24
For I tell you, not one of those people who were invited will enjoy my banquet.’"
25
Now great crowds were traveling with him. So he turned and said to them:
26
"If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, and even his own life—he cannot be my disciple.
New Living Translation
Chapter 14
23
So his master said, ‘Go out into the country lanes and behind the hedges and urge anyone you find to come, so that the house will be full.
24
For none of those I first invited will get even the smallest taste of my banquet.’'
25
A large crowd was following Jesus. He turned around and said to them,
26
If you want to be my disciple, you must, by comparison, hate everyone else — your father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters — yes, even your own life. Otherwise, you cannot be my disciple.
