Luke 21:20-37
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 21
20But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then recognize that her desolation is near. 21Then those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains, and those who are inside the city must leave, and those who are in the country must not enter the city; 22because these are days of punishment, so that all things which have been written will be fulfilled. 23Woe to those women who are pregnant, and to those who are nursing babies in those days; for there will be great distress upon the land, and wrath to this people; 24and they will fall by the edge of the sword, and will be led captive into all the nations; and Jerusalem will be trampled underfoot by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
25There will be signs in the sun and moon and stars, and on the earth distress among nations, in perplexity at the roaring of the sea and the waves,
26people fainting from fear and the expectation of the things that are coming upon the world; for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
27And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
28But when these things begin to take place, straighten up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.'
29And He told them a parable: 'Look at the fig tree and all the trees:
30as soon as they put forth leaves, you see for yourselves and know that summer is now near.
31So you too, when you see these things happening, recognize that the kingdom of God is near.
32Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all things take place.
33Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away.
34But be on your guard, so that your hearts will not be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of life, and that this day will not come on you suddenly, like a trap;
35for it will come upon all those who live on the face of all the earth.
36But stay alert at all times, praying that you will have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.'
King James Version
Chapter 21
20And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh. 21Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto. 22For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. 23But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people. 24And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.
25And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;
26Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.
27And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
28And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
29And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees;
30When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand.
31So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.
32Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.
34And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.
35For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.
36Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

Chapter 21
20"When you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then recognize that its desolation has come near. 21Then those in Judea must flee to the mountains. Those inside the city must leave it, and those who are in the country must not enter it, 22because these are days of vengeance to fulfill all the things that are written. 23Woe to pregnant women and nursing mothers in those days, for there will be great distress in the land and wrath against this people. 24They will be killed by the sword and be led captive into all the nations, and Jerusalem will be trampled by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
25"Then there will be signs in the sun, moon, and stars; and there will be anguish on the earth among nations bewildered by the roaring of the sea and the waves.
26People will faint from fear and expectation of the things that are coming on the world, because the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
27Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
28But when these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is near."
29Then he told them a parable: "Look at the fig tree, and all the trees.
30As soon as they put out leaves you can see for yourselves and recognize that summer is already near.
31In the same way, when you see these things happening, recognize that the kingdom of God is near.
32Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all things take place.
33Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
34"Be on your guard, so that your minds are not dulled from carousing, drunkenness, and worries of life, or that day will come on you unexpectedly
35like a trap. For it will come on all who live on the face of the whole earth.
36But be alert at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place and to stand before the Son of Man."

Chapter 21
20And when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then you will know that the time of its destruction has arrived. 21Then those in Judea must flee to the hills. Those in Jerusalem must get out, and those out in the country should not return to the city. 22For those will be days of God’s vengeance, and the prophetic words of the Scriptures will be fulfilled. 23How terrible it will be for pregnant women and for nursing mothers in those days. For there will be disaster in the land and great anger against this people. 24They will be killed by the sword or sent away as captives to all the nations of the world. And Jerusalem will be trampled down by the Gentiles until the period of the Gentiles comes to an end.
25And there will be strange signs in the sun, moon, and stars. And here on earth the nations will be in turmoil, perplexed by the roaring seas and strange tides.
26People will be terrified at what they see coming upon the earth, for the powers in the heavens will be shaken.
27Then everyone will see the Son of Man coming on a cloud with power and great glory.
28So when all these things begin to happen, stand and look up, for your salvation is near!'
29Then he gave them this illustration: 'Notice the fig tree, or any other tree.
30When the leaves come out, you know without being told that summer is near.
31In the same way, when you see all these things taking place, you can know that the Kingdom of God is near.
32I tell you the truth, this generation will not pass from the scene until all these things have taken place.
33Heaven and earth will disappear, but my words will never disappear.
34Watch out! Don’t let your hearts be dulled by carousing and drunkenness, and by the worries of this life. Don’t let that day catch you unaware,
35like a trap. For that day will come upon everyone living on the earth.
36Keep alert at all times. And pray that you might be strong enough to escape these coming horrors and stand before the Son of Man.'
