Luke 22:8-32

Chapter 22
8And so Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, 'Go and prepare the Passover for us, so that we may eat it.' 9They said to Him, 'Where do You want us to prepare it?' 10And He said to them, 'When you have entered the city, a man carrying a pitcher of water will meet you; follow him into the house that he enters. 11And you shall say to the owner of the house, ‘The Teacher says to you, 'Where is the guest room in which I may eat the Passover with My disciples?'?’ 12And he will show you a large, furnished upstairs room; prepare it there.' 13And they left and found everything just as He had told them; and they prepared the Passover.
14When the hour came, He reclined at the table, and the apostles with Him.
15And He said to them, 'I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer;
16for I say to you, I shall not eat it again until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.'
17And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He said, 'Take this and share it among yourselves;
18for I say to you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine from now on until the kingdom of God comes.'
19And when He had taken some bread and given thanks, He broke it and gave it to them, saying, 'This is My body, which is being given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.'
20And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, 'This cup, which is poured out for you, is the new covenant in My blood.
21But behold, the hand of the one betraying Me is with Mine on the table.
22For indeed, the Son of Man is going as it has been determined; but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed!'
23And they began to debate among themselves which one of them it was who was going to do this.
24And a dispute also developed among them as to which one of them was regarded as being the greatest.
25And He said to them, 'The kings of the Gentiles domineer over them; and those who have authority over them are called ‘Benefactors.’
26But it is not this way for you; rather, the one who is the greatest among you must become like the youngest, and the leader like the servant.
27For who is greater, the one who reclines at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at the table? But I am among you as the one who serves.

Chapter 22
8And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare us the passover, that we may eat. 9And they said unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare? 10And he said unto them, Behold, when ye are entered into the city, there shall a man meet you, bearing a pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he entereth in. 11And ye shall say unto the goodman of the house, The Master saith unto thee, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?
12And he shall shew you a large upper room furnished: there make ready.
13And they went, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.
15And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer:
16For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.
17And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves:
18For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.
19And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.
20Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.
21But, behold, the hand of him that betrayeth me is with me on the table.
22And truly the Son of man goeth, as it was determined: but woe unto that man by whom he is betrayed!
23And they began to enquire among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing.
24And there was also a strife among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest.
25And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors.
26But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve.
27For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as he that serveth.
28Ye are they which have continued with me in my temptations.
29And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me;
30That ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

Chapter 22
8Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, "Go and make preparations for us to eat the Passover."
10"Listen," he said to them, "when you’ve entered the city, a man carrying a water jug will meet you. Follow him into the house he enters.
11Tell the owner of the house, ‘The Teacher asks you, "Where is the guest room where I can eat the Passover with my disciples?"’
12Then he will show you a large, furnished room upstairs. Make the preparations there."
14When the hour came, he reclined at the table, and the apostles with him.
15Then he said to them, "I have fervently desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.
16For I tell you, I will not eat it again until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God."
17Then he took a cup, and after giving thanks, he said, "Take this and share it among yourselves.
18For I tell you, from now on I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes."
20In the same way he also took the cup after supper and said, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.
21But look, the hand of the one betraying me is at the table with me.
22For the Son of Man will go away as it has been determined, but woe to that man by whom he is betrayed!"
24Then a dispute also arose among them about who should be considered the greatest.
25But he said to them, "The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those who have authority over them have themselves called ‘Benefactors.’
26It is not to be like that among you. On the contrary, whoever is greatest among you should become like the youngest, and whoever leads, like the one serving.
27For who is greater, the one at the table or the one serving? Isn’t it the one at the table? But I am among you as the one who serves.
28You are those who stood by me in my trials.
29I bestow on you a kingdom, just as my Father bestowed one on me,
30so that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom. And you will sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
New Living Translation
10He replied, 'As soon as you enter Jerusalem, a man carrying a pitcher of water will meet you. Follow him. At the house he enters,
11say to the owner, ‘The Teacher asks: Where is the guest room where I can eat the Passover meal with my disciples?’
12He will take you upstairs to a large room that is already set up. That is where you should prepare our meal.'
13They went off to the city and found everything just as Jesus had said, and they prepared the Passover meal there.
14When the time came, Jesus and the apostles sat down together at the table.
15Jesus said, 'I have been very eager to eat this Passover meal with you before my suffering begins.
16For I tell you now that I won’t eat this meal again until its meaning is fulfilled in the Kingdom of God.'
17Then he took a cup of wine and gave thanks to God for it. Then he said, 'Take this and share it among yourselves.
18For I will not drink wine again until the Kingdom of God has come.'
21But here at this table, sitting among us as a friend, is the man who will betray me.
22For it has been determined that the Son of Man must die. But what sorrow awaits the one who betrays him.'
23The disciples began to ask each other which of them would ever do such a thing.
24Then they began to argue among themselves about who would be the greatest among them.
25Jesus told them, 'In this world the kings and great men lord it over their people, yet they are called ‘friends of the people.’
26But among you it will be different. Those who are the greatest among you should take the lowest rank, and the leader should be like a servant.
27Who is more important, the one who sits at the table or the one who serves? The one who sits at the table, of course. But not here! For I am among you as one who serves.
