Chapter 24
2And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men suddenly stood near them in gleaming clothing; 5and as the women were terrified and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, 'Why are you seeking the living One among the dead? 6He is not here, but He has risen. Remember how He spoke to you while He was still in Galilee, 7saying that the Son of Man must be handed over to sinful men, and be crucified, and on the third day rise from the dead.' 8And they remembered His words, 9and returned from the tomb and reported all these things to the eleven, and to all the rest. 10Now these women were Mary Magdalene, Joanna, and Mary the mother of James; also the other women with them were telling these things to the apostles. 11But these words appeared to them as nonsense, and they would not believe the women. 12Nevertheless, Peter got up and ran to the tomb; and when he stooped and looked in, he *saw the linen wrappings only; and he went away to his home, marveling at what had happened.
13And behold, on that very day two of them were going to a village named Emmaus, which was sixty stadia from Jerusalem.
14And they were talking with each other about all these things which had taken place.
15While they were talking and discussing, Jesus Himself approached and began traveling with them.
16But their eyes were kept from recognizing Him.
17And He said to them, 'What are these words that you are exchanging with one another as you are walking?' And they came to a stop, looking sad.
18One of them, named Cleopas, answered and said to Him, 'Are You possibly the only one living near Jerusalem who does not know about the things that happened here in these days?'
19And He said to them, 'What sort of things?' And they said to Him, 'Those about Jesus the Nazarene, who proved to be a prophet mighty in deed and word in the sight of God and all the people,
20and how the chief priests and our rulers handed Him over to be sentenced to death, and crucified Him.

Chapter 24
2And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre. 3And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus. 4And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments: 5And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead? 6He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee, 7Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again. 8And they remembered his words,
9And returned from the sepulchre, and told all these things unto the eleven, and to all the rest.
10It was Mary Magdalene, and Joanna, and Mary the mother of James, and other women that were with them, which told these things unto the apostles.
11And their words seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed them not.
12Then arose Peter, and ran unto the sepulchre; and stooping down, he beheld the linen clothes laid by themselves, and departed, wondering in himself at that which was come to pass.
13And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs.
14And they talked together of all these things which had happened.
15And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them.
16But their eyes were holden that they should not know him.
17And he said unto them, What manner of communications are these that ye have one to another, as ye walk, and are sad
18And the one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answering said unto him, Art thou only a stranger in Jerusalem, and hast not known the things which are come to pass there in these days?
19And he said unto them, What things And they said unto him, Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people:
20And how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to death, and have crucified him.
21But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel: and beside all this, to day is the third day since these things were done.

2They found the stone rolled away from the tomb. 3They went in but did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4While they were perplexed about this, suddenly two men stood by them in dazzling clothes.
5So the women were terrified and bowed down to the ground. "Why are you looking for the living among the dead?" asked the men.
6"He is not here, but he has risen! Remember how he spoke to you when he was still in Galilee,
7saying, ‘It is necessary that the Son of Man be betrayed into the hands of sinful men, be crucified, and rise on the third day’?"
8And they remembered his words.
9Returning from the tomb, they reported all these things to the Eleven and to all the rest.
10Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the other women with them were telling the apostles these things.
11But these words seemed like nonsense to them, and they did not believe the women.
12Peter, however, got up and ran to the tomb. When he stooped to look in, he saw only the linen cloths. So he went away, amazed at what had happened.
13Now that same day two of them were on their way to a village called Emmaus, which was about seven miles from Jerusalem.
14Together they were discussing everything that had taken place.
15And while they were discussing and arguing, Jesus himself came near and began to walk along with them.
16But they were prevented from recognizing him.
17Then he asked them, "What is this dispute that you’re having with each other as you are walking?" And they stopped walking and looked discouraged.
19"What things?" he asked them. So they said to him, "The things concerning Jesus of Nazareth, who was a prophet powerful in action and speech before God and all the people,
20and how our chief priests and leaders handed him over to be sentenced to death, and they crucified him.
21But we were hoping that he was the one who was about to redeem Israel. Besides all this, it’s the third day since these things happened.

Chapter 24
2They found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance. 3So they went in, but they didn’t find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4As they stood there puzzled, two men suddenly appeared to them, clothed in dazzling robes.
5The women were terrified and bowed with their faces to the ground. Then the men asked, 'Why are you looking among the dead for someone who is alive?
6He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead! Remember what he told you back in Galilee,
7that the Son of Man must be betrayed into the hands of sinful men and be crucified, and that he would rise again on the third day.'
8Then they remembered that he had said this.
9So they rushed back from the tomb to tell his eleven disciples — and everyone else — what had happened.
10It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and several other women who told the apostles what had happened.
11But the story sounded like nonsense to the men, so they didn’t believe it.
12However, Peter jumped up and ran to the tomb to look. Stooping, he peered in and saw the empty linen wrappings; then he went home again, wondering what had happened.
13That same day two of Jesus’ followers were walking to the village of Emmaus, seven miles from Jerusalem.
14As they walked along they were talking about everything that had happened.
15As they talked and discussed these things, Jesus himself suddenly came and began walking with them.
16But God kept them from recognizing him.
17He asked them, 'What are you discussing so intently as you walk along?' They stopped short, sadness written across their faces.
18Then one of them, Cleopas, replied, 'You must be the only person in Jerusalem who hasn’t heard about all the things that have happened there the last few days.'
19What things?' Jesus asked. 'The things that happened to Jesus, the man from Nazareth,' they said. 'He was a prophet who did powerful miracles, and he was a mighty teacher in the eyes of God and all the people.
20But our leading priests and other religious leaders handed him over to be condemned to death, and they crucified him.
21We had hoped he was the Messiah who had come to rescue Israel. This all happened three days ago.
