Luke 8:3-8
New American Standard Bible
4Now when a large crowd was coming together, and those from the various cities were journeying to Him, He spoke by way of a parable:
5The sower went out to sow his seed; and as he sowed, some fell beside the road, and it was trampled underfoot, and the birds of the sky ate it up.
6Other seed fell on rocky soil, and when it came up, it withered away because it had no moisture.
7Other seed fell among the thorns; and the thorns grew up with it and choked it out.
8And yet other seed fell into the good soil, and grew up, and produced a crop a hundred times as much.' As He said these things, He would call out, 'The one who has ears to hear, let him hear.'
King James Version
4And when much people were gathered together, and were come to him out of every city, he spake by a parable:
5A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it.
6And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture.
7And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it.
8And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
Christian Standard Bible
4As a large crowd was gathering, and people were coming to Jesus from every town, he said in a parable:
5"A sower went out to sow his seed. As he sowed, some seed fell along the path; it was trampled on, and the birds of the sky devoured it.
6Other seed fell on the rock; when it grew up, it withered away, since it lacked moisture.
7Other seed fell among thorns; the thorns grew up with it and choked it.
8Still other seed fell on good ground; when it grew up, it produced fruit: a hundred times what was sown." As he said this, he called out, "Let anyone who has ears to hear listen."
New Living Translation
4One day Jesus told a story in the form of a parable to a large crowd that had gathered from many towns to hear him:
5A farmer went out to plant his seed. As he scattered it across his field, some seed fell on a footpath, where it was stepped on, and the birds ate it.
6Other seed fell among rocks. It began to grow, but the plant soon wilted and died for lack of moisture.
7Other seed fell among thorns that grew up with it and choked out the tender plants.
8Still other seed fell on fertile soil. This seed grew and produced a crop that was a hundred times as much as had been planted!' When he had said this, he called out, 'Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand.'
English Standard Version
