Luke 9:2-12
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 9
2And He sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to perform healing. 3And He said to them, 'Take nothing for your journey, neither a staff, nor a bag, nor bread, nor money; and do not even have two tunics. 4And whatever house you enter, stay there until you leave that city. 5And as for all who do not receive you, when you leave that city, shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them.' 6And as they were leaving, they began going throughout the villages, preaching the gospel and healing everywhere.
7Now Herod the tetrarch heard about all that was happening; and he was greatly perplexed, because it was said by some that John had risen from the dead,
8and by some that Elijah had appeared, and by others that one of the prophets of old had risen.
9Herod said, 'I myself had John beheaded; but who is this man about whom I hear such things?' And he kept trying to see Him.
10When the apostles returned, they gave an account to Him of all that they had done. And taking them with Him, He withdrew privately to a city called Bethsaida.
11But the crowds were aware of this and followed Him; and He welcomed them and began speaking to them about the kingdom of God, and curing those who had need of healing.
King James Version
Chapter 9
2And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick. 3And he said unto them, Take nothing for your journey, neither staves, nor scrip, neither bread, neither money; neither have two coats apiece. 4And whatsoever house ye enter into, there abide, and thence depart. 5And whosoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them. 6And they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel, and healing every where.
8And of some, that Elias had appeared; and of others, that one of the old prophets was risen again.
9And Herod said, John have I beheaded: but who is this, of whom I hear such things? And he desired to see him.
10And the apostles, when they were returned, told him all that they had done. And he took them, and went aside privately into a desert place belonging to the city called Bethsaida.
11And the people, when they knew it, followed him: and he received them, and spake unto them of the kingdom of God, and healed them that had need of healing.
12And when the day began to wear away, then came the twelve, and said unto him, Send the multitude away, that they may go into the towns and country round about, and lodge, and get victuals: for we are here in a desert place.

3"Take nothing for the road," he told them, "no staff, no traveling bag, no bread, no money; and don’t take an extra shirt.
4Whatever house you enter, stay there and leave from there.
5If they do not welcome you, when you leave that town, shake off the dust from your feet as a testimony against them."
6So they went out and traveled from village to village, proclaiming the good news and healing everywhere.
7Herod the tetrarch heard about everything that was going on. He was perplexed, because some said that John had been raised from the dead,
8some that Elijah had appeared, and others that one of the ancient prophets had risen.
9"I beheaded John," Herod said, "but who is this I hear such things about?" And he wanted to see him.

Chapter 9
2Then he sent them out to tell everyone about the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick. 3Take nothing for your journey,' he instructed them. 'Don’t take a walking stick, a traveler’s bag, food, money, or even a change of clothes. 4Wherever you go, stay in the same house until you leave town. 5And if a town refuses to welcome you, shake its dust from your feet as you leave to show that you have abandoned those people to their fate.'
7When Herod Antipas, the ruler of Galilee, heard about everything Jesus was doing, he was puzzled. Some were saying that John the Baptist had been raised from the dead.
8Others thought Jesus was Elijah or one of the other prophets risen from the dead.
10When the apostles returned, they told Jesus everything they had done. Then he slipped quietly away with them toward the town of Bethsaida.
11But the crowds found out where he was going, and they followed him. He welcomed them and taught them about the Kingdom of God, and he healed those who were sick.

11When the crowds learned it, they followed him, and he welcomed them and spoke to them of the kingdom of God and cured those who had need of healing.
12Now the day began to wear away, and the twelve came and said to him, "Send the crowd away to go into the surrounding villages and countryside to find lodging and get provisions, for we are here in a desolate place."

9But Herod said, "I beheaded John. Who, then, is this I hear such things about?" And he tried to see him.
