Mark 13:1-18
New American Standard Bible
Chapter 13
1As He was going out of the temple, one of His disciples *said to Him, 'Teacher, look! What wonderful stones and what wonderful buildings!' 2And Jesus said to him, 'Do you see these great buildings? Not one stone will be left upon another, which will not be torn down.'
3As He was sitting on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter, James, John, and Andrew were questioning Him privately,
4Tell us, when will these things come about, and what will be the sign when all these things are going to be fulfilled?'
5And Jesus began to say to them, 'See to it that no one misleads you.
6Many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am He!’ and they will mislead many.
7When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed; those things must take place; but that is not yet the end.
8For nation will rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; there will be earthquakes in various places; there will also be famines. These things are only the beginning of birth pains.
9But be on your guard; for they will hand you over to the courts, and you will be flogged in the synagogues, and you will stand before governors and kings for My sake, as a testimony to them.
10And the gospel must first be preached to all the nations.
11And when they arrest you and hand you over, do not worry beforehand about what you are to say, but say whatever is given you at that time; for you are not the ones speaking, but it is the Holy Spirit.
12And brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and have them put to death.
13And you will be hated by everyone because of My name, but it is the one who has endured to the end who will be saved.
14Now when you see the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION standing where it should not be— let the reader understand—then those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains.
15Whoever is on the housetop must not go down, nor go in to get anything out of his house.
16And whoever is in the field must not turn back to get his cloak.
17But woe to those women who are pregnant, and to those who are nursing babies in those days!
18Moreover, pray that it will not happen in winter.
King James Version
Chapter 13
1And as he went out of the temple, one of his disciples saith unto him, Master, see what manner of stones and what buildings are here! 2And Jesus answering said unto him, Seest thou these great buildings there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
3And as he sat upon the mount of Olives over against the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew asked him privately,
4Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign when all these things shall be fulfilled?
5And Jesus answering them began to say, Take heed lest any man deceive you:
6For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
7And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not troubled: for such things must needs be; but the end shall not be yet.
8For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows.
9But take heed to yourselves: for they shall deliver you up to councils; and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten: and ye shall be brought before rulers and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them.
10And the gospel must first be published among all nations.
11But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost.
12Now the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father the son; and children shall rise up against their parents, and shall cause them to be put to death.
13And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
14But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains:
15And let him that is on the housetop not go down into the house, neither enter therein, to take any thing out of his house:
16And let him that is in the field not turn back again for to take up his garment.
17But woe to them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!
18And pray ye that your flight be not in the winter.

3While he was sitting on the Mount of Olives across from the temple, Peter, James, John, and Andrew asked him privately,
4"Tell us, when will these things happen? And what will be the sign when all these things are about to be accomplished?"
5Jesus told them, "Watch out that no one deceives you.
6Many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am he,’ and they will deceive many.
7When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, don’t be alarmed; these things must take place, but it is not yet the end.
8For nation will rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places, and famines. These are the beginning of birth pains.
9"But you, be on your guard! They will hand you over to local courts, and you will be flogged in the synagogues. You will stand before governors and kings because of me, as a witness to them.
10And it is necessary that the gospel be preached to all nations.
11So when they arrest you and hand you over, don’t worry beforehand what you will say, but say whatever is given to you at that time, for it isn’t you speaking, but the Holy Spirit.
12"Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child. Children will rise up against parents and have them put to death.

15A man on the housetop must not come down or go in to get anything out of his house,
16and a man in the field must not go back to get his coat.
17Woe to pregnant women and nursing mothers in those days!
New Living Translation
3Later, Jesus sat on the Mount of Olives across the valley from the Temple. Peter, James, John, and Andrew came to him privately and asked him,
4Tell us, when will all this happen? What sign will show us that these things are about to be fulfilled?'
5Jesus replied, 'Don’t let anyone mislead you,
6for many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah.’ They will deceive many.
7And you will hear of wars and threats of wars, but don’t panic. Yes, these things must take place, but the end won’t follow immediately.
8Nation will go to war against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in many parts of the world, as well as famines. But this is only the first of the birth pains, with more to come.
9When these things begin to happen, watch out! You will be handed over to the local councils and beaten in the synagogues. You will stand trial before governors and kings because you are my followers. But this will be your opportunity to tell them about me.
10For the Good News must first be preached to all nations.
11But when you are arrested and stand trial, don’t worry in advance about what to say. Just say what God tells you at that time, for it is not you who will be speaking, but the Holy Spirit.
12A brother will betray his brother to death, a father will betray his own child, and children will rebel against their parents and cause them to be killed.
13And everyone will hate you because you are my followers. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.
14The day is coming when you will see the sacrilegious object that causes desecration standing where he should not be.' (Reader, pay attention!) 'Then those in Judea must flee to the hills.
15A person out on the deck of a roof must not go down into the house to pack.
16A person out in the field must not return even to get a coat.
17How terrible it will be for pregnant women and for nursing mothers in those days.
18And pray that your flight will not be in winter.
